What does the LLC in Segway LLC stand for? I've searched the Segway website and I find no use of those letters. Why is it that some folks who post messages on this site never use the letters LLC while others almost always use them?

Do they represent some particular kind of corporation? Is there any difference between Segway Corporation and Segway LLC?

Dr. Johnson please be advised that the term Segway LLC appears constantly in the Segway site.

Check this address from the Seg site.
http://www.segway.com/general/terms.html

Note in bold black letters that it states that it is a Limited Liability Company

Au contraire, weskifm. The term Segway LLC appears nowhere on their website except on the legal page you referenced. And they make it difficult to find your way to that page.

The Legal Terms and Conditions of using the Segway Website appears on the bottom of every single Segway.com page. If that's difficult, I'm not certain what "easy" would look like!

Dam J you beat me to it I was just getting ready to cut and paste the following from the bottom of a page.

Copyright © 2001-2002 Segway LLC. All rights reserved

The above is at the bottom left of every page in the Seg site.

Fair question.. I do it intentionally. I'll say "Segway LLC" instead of just "Segway" when I want to be clear I'm talking about the company. Also, I try to be specific when talking about the product by using its full name, "Segway-HT".

It may be very hard or impossible to see the lines with "LLC" on some monitors/monitor settings, grey on black.

Should "LLC" always be in "quotes". Is the second "L" in "LLC" redundant? (Sorry, couldn't help myself....)

I pasted the following from the bottom of Segway.com's home page:

Legal Terms and Conditions | Privacy Policy - Updated

Copyright © 2001-2002 Segway LLC. All rights reserved

It is printed in what appears to be 6 to 8 point type in grey letters on a black background. It is VERY difficult to read.

I won't get into a pissing contest with any of you over this. I asked in good faith what the letters LLC stood for in Segway's company name. I received a good answer and I am satisfied. But I retain my opinion that the company doesn't go out of its way to display the Segway LLC title on its website.

Thank you, Frank. Unlike some others, you speak with straight tongue. I'm all in favor of avoiding ambiguity in our communications. Distinguishing the company from the product is a noble aim.
