View Full Version : Things to do while waiting for our Segway??

It's going to be a loooooooong winter unless you are one of the early delivery contest winners so I guess I would ask: Does anyone have any ideas as how best to fill time while we wait?
My top 5 things to keep me busy:
5. Stick a measuring cup under my chin so while I sit and think about when my Segway will arrive, I can see how much drool falls into the container. (Today's my record: .45 oz)
4. Secretly hack into Flashgoirl's PC and figure out what she wrote to win the early arrival contest.
3. Count backwards from 7,776,000. If my Segway hasn't arrived, do it one more time.
2. Search the hall of records to find out if I have any relatives with the last name of Kamen.
1. Kick and scream until someone gets me one!!!
(ta-da-da!!...try the veal...)
Ok, I feel better now.

How about fly up to seattle to hang out with flashgoirl and pt? We'd be happy to set up the cones and lets some folks go for a glide.

Flying? That's for wusses. Tell ya' what... When I get my Segway, I'll ride all the way over and we can all head out for a cup o' joe.
Of course, I am "optimally" figuring it will take me approximately 80 hours of gliding from Valencia CA to Seattle WA (at 12.5 mph the whole way) and another 396 hours of charge time (6 hours every 15 miles). And who needs sleep when you have a Segway to play with? So once I get my Segway, I'll send you a line and we'll meet up 19.83 days later! =P

Rob,
Hey, I'm just down in Sherman Oaks! You going to the Ride it Event in LA, or can you wait? ;)
You planning to have an unwrapping party?

Hi Bruce - I'll be at the Ride-It-Event assuming my RSVP gets confirmed up. I'm not quite sure where in LA they are going to have it but either way, I'm excitedly looking forward to it.
Of course, I would rather be in New Hampshire but... ;)

RobbW, you could cut about 8 days from your trip if you could figure out how to keep 200 watts of solar panels angled towards the sun. That's about four 2x4 foot panels :-)
Side note:
The literature states 10 cents a day at 10 cents a kwh. Thats one kwh per day, divided by 6 hour charge time is about 167 watthours continuous.

(because I will have a Solar Segway, but only charged from a stationary PV system)
post on amazon---
on amazon many people create "so you'd like to..." comments, this is also true for the segway ht. some are okay- most are written by people who do not understand or cannot imagine what a segway ht is (hey we were all there once). which is totally fine, but we can also do the same and explain to folks why -we- decided to get a ht. the system is set up so it works both ways (amazon's system is great in that regard).
so go do your part, others have, we can too.
to make one go to:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/guide-create/ref=cm_bg_create_dp/
follow the instructions, make sure to use the segway asin
<ASIN: B00007EPJ6>
if you're looking for other asin's (you need 3) feel free to use the ones i did...some books i co-authored.
<ASIN: 0735711771>
<ASIN: 0201725843>
or anything else of course :-]
cheers,

i'm wondering, since you will be able to carry extra weight, could you carry extra battery packs, 2 or 3 and get 45 to 60 miles? I am spending my time waiting for the segway by coming to this site every 30 mins to see if anything new has ben posted...
mind if my segway and i pass?
