Although I have ordered 2 units, I today, for the first time, read the conditions of sale and purchase. Although the following section will not cause me any problems, I wonder if the travel requirement for training will cause problems with any other purchaser. Evidently, Segay is quite concerned about liability. The last time I bought a motorcycle, the store couldn't care less about training or liability. In fact you can buy a gun in florida without any training requirements.

quote:10. Training. Segway LLC will provide, at no charge, Training. Purchaser [or the person, at least sixteen years of age, to whom the Product is to be shipped as designated by Purchaser at the time the order is placed ("Purchaser's Designee")] must attend a Segway LLC Training session (duration less than four hours) before shipment of the Product. Purchaser may, at Purchaser's option, bring one additional person (at least sixteen years of age) to Training at no charge. From February 1, 2003 through July 31, 2003, Segway LLC shall provide Training at least once per week at Segway LLC's Bedford, NH facility and at a site in Los Angeles, CA and at least once per month at sites in Seattle, San Francisco, Denver, Phoenix, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Atlanta, New York, Baltimore, and Orlando Fl. (After July 31, 2003, Training may only be provided at Bedford, NH and Los Angeles, CA). Approximately thirty days before notifying Purchaser that Segway LLC is prepared to ship Product to Purchaser, Segway LLC (by email to the email address provided by Purchaser to Amazon.com at the time the order is placed) shall provide Purchaser with a schedule of Training sessions to be held in the succeeding thirty days. Purchaser must contact Segway LLC, in advance, to arrange attendance at one of these Training sessions. Segway LLC will not ship Product to Purchaser until Purchaser or Purchaser's Designee completes attendance at a Training session. If Purchaser or Purchaser's Designee has not attended Training as of the date Segway LLC is prepared to ship Product to Purchaser, Segway LLC shall (by email to the email address provided by Purchaser to Amazon.com at the time the order is placed) send Purchaser a second notice with a second schedule of Training sessions to be held in the succeeding thirty days. Purchaser must contact Segway LLC, in advance, to arrange attendance at one of these Training sessions. If Purchaser or Purchaser's Designee fails to attend a Training session on or before the date payment is finally due under section 4, above, Purchaser shall be in default hereunder, whereupon Purchaser forfeits all rights under the order, and Segway LLC shall retain the Deposit as liquidated damages.

i'm all for this, it's __really__ important people take the training. a total of 6 months of nationwide training in most major cities seems a good idea to me and for most people i don't think it will be a problem.

perhaps the gun and motorcycle folks will consider this too :-]

cheers,

I too have read this pt and understand Segway LLC's concern for liability. Arrangments would be easiest for many to attend classes here in St. Louis. In your opinion, do you think classes would be simple enough to coordinate?

I would like to extend a beneficial invitation to Segway LLC to come to St. Louis. From conversations I have had with a couple of employees, there is Segway interest in St. Louis. I am just curious. How many people have purchased and who live more than five hours from any of the existing training facilities.

I will embrace any opportunities to help the Segway and the community at all levels; from training, service, sales, demonstrations, and safety awareness.

Who would help too?

If we could only be resellers...

Darn, no training in Honolulu ? That's another $400 - $500 in round trip airfare.
Can the training be done all in one day or will I have to stay there overnight ?

Aloha,
Sam

Sounds like a good idea .. I'll even take them outrigger canoe paddling.
I'm actually on the Big Island (another hop from Oahu).

Honolulu would be nice .. Kailua Kona would be even better :-)
