hi everyone, i am on the pre-order list and am very excited ...I'm wondering if anyone has given thought to (or can comment on) security, namely, securing the thing. can it collapse at all? here in l.a. I plan on riding it around on errands but there will be times when I'll go into a building and not want to have it with me (movie theaters, supermarket?, etc) ...would I tie it to a lamppost like a bicycle? or keep it with me the whole time? dump it in the shopping cart? :-) what do you think?

i'm writing an article about this, so i'll have that posted soon on http://www.bookofseg.com
here are some quickies:
-you can use many bike locks with the segway ht, there are two holes, one on each side that the lock can go through to secure it to any number of things, bike racks, poles, etc...
-the unit cannot be started without a 64 bit encoded key, so no one can play while you're gone.
-i lock mine up in many places, i'll be posting pictures of that soon.
-common sense helps the most, dark alleys, bad areas, those aren't good for anyone or anything including a segway ht.
most people don't even notice mine, i thought that was weird. if i saw one i'd try and find the owner to ask questions.
cheers,
pt

Pt if you go to Page 5, 28 Nov. 2002, Topic: Theft of a Segway / How to Keep Yours. You'll find plenty of info. How to keep your Seg from being stolen is all part of the World of Seg, Ahh and a good world it is.

thanks all, I'm also surprised that it wouldn't get more attention just tethered to a pole. i am so nervous about leaving it anywhere, locks or not, out of my sight!! I'll bet I could ride it around inside most places, though: thinking about things like inside a barnes & noble, inside a supermarket, etc.
thanks agian
