Actually, I can envision a sign having a pedestrian and a Segway both lit. When the time expires for walking, the "no" circle/cross appears over the pedestrian. Then a little later, the same for the glider.

There are too many people on this site with way too much time on their hands !!! LOL . But I love it....actually you should put some pedestrians about 6 paces behind the Segway !

One of the more annoying practices by many traffic control planners is the insistance that a pedestrian stroll over to a button and press it in order to inform the traffic lights that he or she is there. Cars don't have to stroll over to a button because there are sensors in the road that detect their presence.
But if you hadn't noticed, you don't have to stroll over to a button to tell many business doors to open for you and the detection devices that identify the presence of someone wanting to go in or out of a door are not expensive.
The button burdon is especially eggregious for folks on crutches, using walkers, or rolling in wheelchairs. What is it that has allowed this "you're on foot: so you must OPERATE something to get across the street" -thinking to become established?
What huge savings in traffic efficiency does this bring to the world--holding up pedestrians in service of automobile traffic? Shouldn't the button requirement only be reserved for places where the presence of a pedestrian is a rare occurance? Shouldn't the assumption be that pedestrians are to be served first, automatically and that a pressed button would trigger some quick response (they don't) or extend the cycle for the person on foot (they don't)?
As Jerry Seinfeld would say, "What's with THAT?"

iNova, I never thought of that. yeah, "What's with THAT?". Those sensors would be more reliable and probably cost less. Great observation.

How about this. For a don't glide sign the red sad face of the segway. and for a do glide sign, the green happy face of the segway. :D
