I went to the 99-cent store today and found:

A red 3-LED flasher lamp for night time gliding visibility. 99 cents.

A twin pack of standard air pressure gauges. 99 cents.

Bike locking cable that would loop nicely through the wheel holes. 99 cents.

I bought the LED flasher and the air pressure gauges. I already have a Kryptonite lock that I rarely use, so I didn't see the point of buying the extra lock.

There were bunch of other stuff that I got tonight, but the above three could be useful to Seggers and I thought I'd mention it.

Checking the air pressure on a regular basis is an important part of a Segways care and use. When my Segway was new I let it go for about the first month and a half before I did a check, and I was surprised to see such a drop. It always looked ok visually, so I gave little thought to actually checking it for that long period .I have since purchased an electronic device to get a more accurate reading in the lower PSI range, and now make it a weekly check. Only takes about 2-3 pumps to fill it back up to 16 PSI.

The tires say "Check pressure monthly", but even weekly isn't often enough. But considering that that's about all the maintanence a Segway requires, you can't complain.

You guys reminded me to check this AM. One tire was at 11psi the other at 14.5. I think I last checked 3 weeks ago.

At the Long Beach gathering today, we had someone checking in at 9 psi! Most seggers, though, seemed to be good about filling up their tires before the glide that day.

oh. we're supposed to do that? oops. . . well i guess i shouldn't admit that i've had my segway for nearly 6 mos and haven't done that. . .but i'll go do that now.

It must be amazing what you learn when you actually read! Silly me.

I checked mine on my husbands bicycle guage/pump. Seemed really low so I put exta air in and Segged downtown to buy a 'proper' tire guage (our fancy digital one is in the trunk of his car!)

Bought one for about $5.00 and the guy in the store was so fascinated by the Segway and wanted to hear all about it so he checked my tires and they were up around 18!!!!! I let the extra air out and will not be checking with the bike guage in future!
