Had my first opportunity to glide just 4 weeks ago, at an Indiana FIRST post-season robotics competition, and I am HOOKED!! I [u]WILL</u> own one ... someday. I am planning to do a day trip from Indianapolis to attend Saturday's festivities and I had checked into the NevrLand rentals that will be available. Seems they will only have 2 or 3 day rentals ... bummer. After speaking with someone down in Celebration, I am not sure if they could handle this, but is anyone interested in splitting a 2 day $250 rental (I will want most/all of Saturday)?

I am looking forward to meeting other Segway enthusiasts and getting another opportunity to glide!!

Indy1injianeer: Welcome to Segway Chat and look forward to seeing you in Chicago. While I understand that you are bummed at the $250 price tag for a rental, I calculate that it might cost me $240 to ship my unit which is what I plan to do. Everybody who will be there will want to use their Seg on Saturday so splitting use so that you get it on Saturday may not be a fair exchange. The rental units may be fairly limited in number so don't wait until the last minute to make a decision. Finally, if it's more than your budget can handle, I bet that you will get significant ride time (for free) from those in attendance. Just my opinion. Look forward to meeting you.

Thanks Fred,
It's not necessarily the overall price (although that is a chunk of change). I will already be spending $200+ for the one day with dinner, and probably another $100 on raffle tickets. If I was able to attend the entire event it would be much easier to justify spending the money on the rental. I definitely understand the issue of Saturday being a high priority day. I would be willing to negotiate an appropriate split of the rental cost to compensate.
I have already had a couple of offers for at least short rides ... I just hope they don't mind all my drool on their machines :-D.
