Came across this today www.itbeatswalking.com : 'the Browser'. Looks like other companies are trying to get into the action without violating DK patents. This one does it with a third wheel (no balancing. $2500, 4 mph max, 20 mile range. I know Segway, Segway is a friend of mine, and this is no Segway!

That thing just looks scary. Hmmm, outrigger wheels in front...tip much?

Look in the right hand column... does anything else look like a direct rip off of a certain DEan KAmen property?
If I were Dean, I'd be hopping mad... looks like the Browser stole from the Segway but stopped wayyyyyy short of innovation. Not to mention... top speed of 4 MPH??? No way, Jose. If it can't do bare minimum 8 mph, it's just not a reasonable competitor to the HT.

I see lots of this company's products at the local stores. The cart pusher and the in-store assistive scooters are good things, IMO.
The Browser I'm not so sure about. I can see it being useful in places where the ground is perfectly flat and is not crowded in (like on an airplane assembly plant or something)... Definitely not a Segway!

One major drawback to the unit:
Features:
...
* Zero degree turning radius up to 360 degrees.
...
So what if I want to do a 720 (2 revolutions)? I can do that on a Segway, or even a turn of 3600 full degrees (10 revs).
;)
Also, it'd be interesting to see how this one does a 0-degree turn. I saw an iBOT do a zero-degree turn and was super-impressed though.

Definitely looks like it's major value will be in material handling - flat concrete floors. Not a competition at all with the Segway.

This one is a material mover not a people mover (HT).

What you all seem to be missing is, this appears to be an 'In-store' device aimed at the larger box stores. NOT necessarily for the disabled.
I think it is a good thing: The public would get used to seeing and interacting with EPAMDs.
Would you choose 'Walmart' or 'Target' if 'Target' had these.
Think positive !

Wheels, the Browser is *not* an EPAMD. It has three wheels - EPAMD's have two.
But I agree - the product appears to intended for the company's existing client base, large retailers for in-store use.

"Below $2500" must mean $2499.99? Why is it so ugly?

Actually its a four wheeler. Note the small fourth wheel on the right front. Seems to be an outrigger type wheel. Probably in case of capsizing. I would think it would be better to have the big wheels in front for better balance when turning then thye wouldn't need the forth wheel. How about that hand crank for steering, thats goota be a pain. The internal geared motor has almost the same gear ratio as the motors in the Segway, too. The motor is in the front wheel too, not the big rear ones. Quite a bit of difference, I think.

This is what the SEGWAY would look like if you wanted to make it look "cute" , as was proposed in a chat forum earlier! LOL....
I think this looks like cr#p......is it made of wood ??
