Prior to being introduced to salesforce.com, Segway LLC was looking for a formalized system for managing sales and customer information. Sales data was scattered across multiple Excel spreadsheets, making it difficult to access and share pertinent information. The company wanted more control of the sales process and needed an up-to-date, comprehensive customer relationship management system that could integrate its sales, customer support and financial data.

Segway LLC chose salesforce.com's online CRM solution for its rapid, cost-effective deployment and ability to integrate with the company's existing Oracle applications. By using salesforce.com, Segway LLC has access to a real-time, holistic view of its customers and prospects. As a result, the sales and management team can compile and share up-to-the-minute customer information and service customers more effectively. In addition, the offline capabilities included in salesforce.com's Enterprise Edition allow sales representatives the same command of their information when they are away from the office.

Why did they wait until now for an information organizational tool like this? I wonder what they were using before... Perhaps proprietary databases written in Oracle? It sounds good. It's perhaps even an indicator that sales are increasing...or at least, expected increase. Also, this could coincide with the pending consumer reveal/release. They may be getting ready to set up shop for some serious volume.

Two interesting finds in short order Dave27!

Maybe they are getting ready for a rush of orders and new customers and that is why they have upgraded their system?

You seem like quite an optimist Lawrence. From what I have seen on TIQ you consider yourself to be objective. Do you think it possible that Segway has been doing some fumbling and is trying to get their act together? Didn't they just get rid of their to sales guy? Doesn't that indicate that they were dissatisfied with the job he was doing? Or was the guy just a scapegoat because things were not working out as anticipated? Why didn't they blame it all on the bad economy.
