Congrats flashgoirl, enjoy your Segway. I know it's easy to ride but be careful for a while and try not to become too over-confident. I have about 55 hours riding at work using it outside and inside. It's a great device but take your time. Also keep track of your hours.

Hope you like people; because you are going to be answering a thousand questions. And you cannot let everyone have a ride or you'll never get to ride. So get your excuses together.

Can I ride? :D j/k

I have a few.

-Is the power cord that comes out of the shaft retractable, so when you pull it out it snaps back in?
-How many pieces did it come in and how was it assembeling it?
-Could you post the manual to it?
-Anyother cool features that you want to share?

Hey!

If you could,

1) How was it shipped? By UPS?

2) Also, when you take photos - could you also include pictures of the "crate" and packing materials? I'm interested in seeing how they actually pack the Segway-HT before they ship it.

3) Did they include all 3 color keys?

4) Do you plan on buying any of the currently available accessories? Also, did Segway include a product card or one sheet with details about any future accessories?

Thanks!

Regards,

Frank A. Tropea

Hey guys - we've taken pictures of everthing from the Fedex truck pulling up to our first maiden voyage. The plan is to have them up by the weekend...

So to answer questions so far:

Frank:

1. Fedex
2. Definitely!
3. Sure did - plus an extra red one to place somewhere with the serial numbers in case you lost your set.
4. I'd like to get the front "basket" when it's available, however, they did not send any documentation of other accessories.

Joseph:

1. Yes, sure is. It's not so much a "snap" back in though - it just sort of moves back up.
2. Two pieces - it was super easy to assemble. The Handle/Shaft fits into the bottom piece.
3. We'll work on doing something like that.
4. Wow - way too many for this quick message - will do a full right up soon...

I took it out for a spin today and was stopped by a few folks, probably the best one was when a Dept of Transportation employee pulled over and asked me tons of questions. He even took some pictures!! We talked about how I could travel via bus with my Segway - whether there could be a side mount or take it with me on the bus... It was really fun to see him so excited.

I'm pooped, it's been a really fun, long 32 hours - and now I'm back to work tomorrow (yep, took that last two days off)...

As I promised - there are def. pics coming - I'll post here as soon as they're live!

Oh and Wayne, the dog thing: something my husband wrote me in an e-mail back when we were first courting. I had just bought a fluffy/squeaky toy for my dog and was contemplating how much he (the dog) liked it... the rest is history.

Kudos & Congrats, flashgoirl!

If you don't mind - what area do you live in? Only asking cuz there was a lot of snow in much of the east - wondering if you got to try it out in snow.

Also - is there a horn or beeper of some sort to warn others of your approach?

thanks & enjoy!

I live in Seattle where we don't get much snow in the city, but oodles of rain (as you probably already know). While in New Hampshire a weekend ago it did in fact snow and we took the Segway HT on a ride outside, it did just fine. When I discovered big ice - patches, I chose to get off and use "power assist" to navigate around the ice. Snow, however, wasn't a problem... It's just really important to gauge the terrain, your ability level, and how important it is to stay safe - when in doubt power assist, my man.

:D

Oh - and no on board horn, but I'm looking for a good bell for taking it out into more public areas.

Which holidays? Amazon.com acknowledged my order on 11/19/02 and sent poster # 1269.

Am wondering if I'm early enough to get February training in Seattle.

Hello 2totango and welcome to the forum. The thread you have responded to had started in early December and so it was the Christmas holiday period that was being referenced. This thread is somewhat dated now. You mentioned that you ordered on 11/11/02 but the Amazon sale was not available until 11/18/02 so I guess you meant 12/11/02. You may still be lucky enough to get training in February. We are hoping that people who ordered during the week of the 18th of November will start to hear about their training options during the next couple of weeks as it is stated that training will be available 30 days before you are able to take posession of your HT. I estimate that the buzz will begin around January 20th!

I ordered on 11/19/02 as well. I dont see any problem with getting our training and receipt of our HT's as part of the first group. It was after all, only 24 hours later!
