I know it may be a little early, but if we don't ask we can't get.

What would your ideal Segway have? Is it missing something? Is there a must have accessory? Useful or outrageous, don't be afraid to go wild after all wild today may be available tomorrow.

I'll go first, a lighter, collapsable marine version with quick detach batteries and water resistant enough to tolerate the inevitable quick dip. It should be easy to hoist and pass over the gunnel in two passes, first the batteries then the rest of the machine.

Who's next?

I did not buy a Segway yet, but I would want a base for the batteries to be able to recharge on.

Flashgoil once mentioned before that you can't leave the Segway plugged in all night, why not? They should make it possible for you to charge the Segway and not have to attend to it in two hours.

more to come..

That doesn't sound right, the batteries are just NiMH (nickel metal hydride), no? That's the same kind as many cell phones, laptops, pdas, etc. My cordless phone has them and I leave it in the charging cradle all the time with no problems. I understand the voltage is higher but even so there shouldn't be much difference given a good charging circuit, heck my Honda's battery pack is nothing more than 120 NiMH D cells, yeah, it's a hybrid. :-)
Sorry for the tangent.

Hey Eddie, I was just going by what Flashgoil said in her post.

http://www.segwaychat.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=453&whichpage=10quote:Hey guys - so the first charge is 12 hours. I'm taking the day off to sit and watch it charge - how strange is that? After the initial charge, then it is only 6 hours for a full charge on full depletion. The good news is there is no impact on the battery memory to do spot charges - so it's recommended that you leave the machine plugged in when not using it....
Just going by what I hear from other users :D

MP3's, nice.
How about a peltier device to keep the coffee hot and the cola cold. :-)

Guys Guys Guys, you can leave the Seg plugged in as long as you like. You can plug it in and unplug it everytime you stop. It causes no problem to the battery.

<center>"BATTERY SAFETY AND STORAGE"</center>

"Keeping the Segway HT plugged in when not in use will maximize the life of the battery. The batteries will not overcharge."

"Tip: The best rule of thumb is to always leave the unit plugged in to the wall when not in use. The user does not need to be concerned with over-charging the battery packs. For best results, include an overnight charge after every 10 or so charge/discharge cycles especially if the machine is frequently charged for only a few hours at a time."

Thanks for the clarification Weskifm.

Since you've been riding for a while maybe you have some good insights, what kind of accessories would you like to see?

Not sure what kind of accessories I might like; but I would like to give mine a glossy black or pearl black custom paint job with possible gold pin stripping. In the far distance it might make a person look like they are floating.

Mine's happily charging away right now as I type - two hours to go before it's full.... I do plan to leave mine plugged in whenever possible. Since the Segway uses the standard IEC 110/220 power cord - I plan to have some extras (one at home, one at work, one in my backpack, etc).

My wish list at the moment is a cool keychain to put my Segway "keys" on... and then I'll be counting the days until the front basket is available.

Cheers!

Laser Cannon...
Baby Seat (for Weskifm!)
iPod dock and speakers!
cute little bicycle bell (synthisized)
Purple button that says when pushed "No, you can't have a turn"
Compartment to stash my bottle of hair gel (to stick my hair in place)
Bud vase (hey, Beetle owners don't get all the fun!)
Old-style push mower attachment, so it looks like 2 mowers, one pushing the other!
Permit that lets me ride it in Disneyland!

The best type of key chain for your Seg keys is the small round type with the retractable wire. That way you won't have to keep going into your pocket or purse evertime you stop and start. Plus I think they may have given you an extra red? If so leave one at home just in case you lose your keys.

May all your rides be smooth. Ride smooth.
