Thanks to Rich, W9GFO, here are the pictures. You can just make out the binder clip that anchors the end of the lanyard.

I found an easy way to mount a Garmin Vista to my 12.0 bag that worked out pretty slick, and should work for other models that have a bike mount available. If someone will offer to host pictures, I'll take a couple, but in the meantime I'll just try to describe it.
Cut a 6" length of 1" OD schedule 40 (grey) PVC pipe. Make a mark about 1-1/8" in from each end. Saw a diametrically-centered slot in each end down to the marks, making sure that both slots are parallel. Position the pipe horizontally with the slots horizontal. On each end, cut on the mark down to the slot, and discard the two pieces.
Install GPS bracket over the center of the pipe so that the display will face the same direction as the cutouts when it's snapped into the bracket.
Now position the pipe under the rear (rider side) of the bag's top handle and lay the handle down over it. The webbed sides of the handles will lay into the cutouts, preventing the pipe from moving sideways.
Finally, clip in the GPS. To keep it from flopping front to back, attach the lanyard to the slot in the bottom of the GPS, tuck it down between the bag's sleeve and the CS, and secure it to the bottom of the sleeve with a small binder clip.
The GPS will be centered above the keyport and display, but won't obstruct either one. If you want to make it even more secure, you can slip a small plastic rod down the center of the pipe, locking the handle in place, but it's not necessary.
I hope this is helpful to someone.
