My daughter had came from San Diego to visit me in Sacramento. Being a smart teenager, she talked dad into going shopping at Roseville Galleria.

While we approached the end of the mall, I noticed what looked like the handle bar of a Segway. Sure enough there was a guy at an "As seen on TV" kiosk in the middle of the mall who had a Segway and was renting it for $400/day or $1000/week.
I told him I owned one and asked him how he was doing with renting them. He said he has 5 and that 4 were currently rented. It's amazing how nice they look when they're brand new.
He told me that all of his Segways have a GPS enclosed in the platform. Hmmm... When I asked about the size he said that it was a standard GPS. He also said that he had to get special permission from LLC to crack open the base. Is it me or does the base seem a little too small to incorporate a GPS? He said that they spent a lot of time collaberating with engineers at Segway to get it to work.
The next day I took my truck to Sears to have brake work done. Since this Sears was located at the same mall, I took my Segway to kill time. I visited the same guy at the kiosk and noticed that he didn't have a Segway on display. Apparently it was rented. Instead he was promoting this thing called a Rock N' Roll Scooter:

It's amazing how a crowd forms when you're on a Segway and inside a shopping mall. I told him that I could help send business his way and he seemed disinterested. He gave me a couple Segway postcards with his number on the back. Sorry for not catching his name but if any of you are thinking of starting a rental business, you may want to call this guy and pick his brain. His number is 916-412-4165. Odd that I've never seen him post on SC. Oh well, I just thought that someone on SC would find this info useful.
