OK - after listening to it for four weeks, I finally decided to ask...
When the Segway is in the car, and the car goes over a bump, there is a significant rattle comes from the Segway....
1) Is that normal
2) What is it?
Thanks!
Need a lot better description to have a chance at that one. I presume your car has a normal suspension, so the Segway isn't getting much of a jolt - is that right? So what does it sound like? Do your wheels move? Is it rubbing up against something in your car?

Chris -- it is definatly not getting any abnormal jolts, the wheels do not move, it is not rubbing up against anything... it is a blunt metalic rattle -- I really don't know how to describe it -- but if others are experiencing it, they will definately know what I am talking about.
All gear boxes have some play in them. I suppose it could be that. You aware of the fast clicking that occurs when you are nearly still on your Segway? That is caused by the motors reversing very quickly to keep you balanced and gear slop causes the clicks. Does it sound like that?
I suppose it would be good to know just how the Segway is being shook. i.e. side to side or inline with the wheels.
Also could it be a fender rubbing something?
I don't know, but my feeling is that if your Segway is making normal sounds while your riding on it that the noises are normal and all is ok with it.

Another thought...
The kickstand is held up by a rather weak spring. Could it be sorta loose and slapping gently against the Segs underside?
Chris
I had to check mine before suggesting this. There is a little end play in the axles. The sound could be that clack of the shaft/bearing.

Ted - I think you are right. The Seg is lying flat on its front (i.e. control shaft) in the car. The noise is reproduced if you just give the base a shake back and forth in the direction of the axles...
So, now that I know how to reproduce the sound -- does everyone else get this too???
Thanks...
