I just listened again to the discussion, which Dean Kamen had with the host of the 'Talk to the Nation' program. This discussion took place in January of this year, and the link was posted at TIQ at that time.
Here's one of the statements Kamen made, which I found intriguing :
"We’re looking forward over the next year or two to showing some pretty exciting technologies with respect to energy"
Now I'm assuming that he's talking about the Stirling engine here. To me the fact that Kamen mentions a date not too far off in the future, 'A year or two', makes me think that he was quite confident that he would have a marketable Stirling engine soon. In fact, he was going out on a limb to even mention the propect of this new technology (especially given all the hype & prognosticating that surrounded the Ginger mystery). If we take Kamen's "year or two" literally here, this means a Stirling engine could be unveiled at some point in 2003.
A lesser point concerns the fact that he spoke of technologies rather then technology. I suppose he may have been thinking of the Stirling engine, and applications spawned by it, such as the APU.
If we're going to chew on tidbits with regards to 'what's next in Kamen's sleeve'...I would have to say 'something related to energy', and again my best guess is he means Stirling engines.
