I golfed gliding both yesterday and today! It was great fun, very cool, easy, smooth. Just went where carts go, no where near greens, proper etiquette, etc. Only did 9 holes each day but MAYBE could do 18 with luck. Other guys in my foursome had carts so they hauled my bag. I leaned Seg up against cart (or tree or whatever)and hit shots. Great potential but ... how's our colleague out there who was inventing attachment to Seg to haul bag? Best regards, Micky

That's cool, especially since your pro shop let you try the ht on the course. Our courses out here are pretty conservative -- I haven't even asked yet. My big pet peeve with cart golf is that rarely can you head straight to your ball. I've lost too many shots to count when going to my partners first and then losing my original line. How much juice did you have left after 9? If those new batteries make it out I hope they handle an easy 18 holes on some of the hilly courses we have here in the bay area!

Hey Steve - yesterday the pro looked the Seg over and just told me to use cart rules; today was at my club and a friend is a tech guy who knew about Segs and happens to be Greens Chairman. I grew up golfing so they know I'll be cool. I had about 35% battery left but I wasn't trying to conserve power and I haven't done anything about helping the battery life. I think I could make 18 but I think I'd need to be as conservative with energy as possible. Both courses very hilly! Best regards, Micky

i know it showed a clip of teh seg being used for golfing in one of the segway movies. of course, that was with that cargo cart that is never suppost to come out.

" Other guys in my foursome had carts so they hauled my bag."
Say, don't those bags have a shoulder strap? Across your back might work. Sort of the Robin Hood look.

Hey Peter, golf bags do have back straps but it's awkward on Seg and not a safe feeling going up and down bumpy grass hills, plus you'd have to take off bag, lean it on Seg in Balance Mode each shot which would be ok but slow and annoying to the others. If no cart in foursome, it would be better to mount the bag somehow on the Seg. Best regards, Micky

I've been considering the Seg golf bag challenge and wonder if the solution is in splitting your bag into two sets of club tubes, one over each tire?

Hey! You guys must not be good golfers. They would never allow a Segway in a pro golf tournament! Heaven forbid that someone with a even a slight disability should ever win a pro golf tournament! Hey they would be taking a job away from an able bodied person. Hey, maybe even one of those old guys could win a tournament. That would never do! Lincoln [8D] P.S. Like boxing and football golf is not only a game of skill but one of physical perfection and endurance.

Or an even better solution ... just use one golf club ! What's with all the switching between irons, woods, plastics etc.
ok ok, I don't golf :-) :-)

Hey Sam! How about a baseball bat (cork anyone?) and a pool cue?

What would be cool is SegPolo ... teams gliding around a field and whacking the ball with long SegMallets and trying to score a goal via Polo (however you play Polo?!) Gyro, I'm trying to visualize the tubes they use to separate the clubs ? somehow mounted on top of the fenders ? I guess the "e" would be the answer with the self balancing and the cargo space on the sides. I can't make the Convention, but you guys should try some Seg team sport silliness! Best regards, Micky

I first suggested Seg Polo in Oct back on the Chicago Rally thread (before it was a fest):

For Golf and Glide, I was picturing angling back the tubes 45 degrees to lower the head height and make pulling and insertion easier.

When our company golf club books a tournament often they make us take carts, They say its to speed play but I'm sure its for the extra revenue! Most courses out here will let you carry if you want to - of course you still pay the cart fee as its included in the cost of booking the tournament. One particulary officious course near Monterey wouldn't even let you walk if you wanted too. So I suppose courses out here might allow Segs if they can figure how to charge for it!

Around here, most of the courses own some carts and rent more for outings. Carts are definitely a revenue center for courses. So courses buy some Segs to rent along with carts. Right now, I know mant people who would pay alot to rent a Seg for a round provided some way to lug the clubs. Gyro, I like the angling of the tubes idea, and count me in the firstSegPolo League! Doesn't anyone carry their clubs over their shoulder anymore? One, you wouldn't need some kind of carrier built on the HT, and two, you wouldn't need to figure out how to counter balance them from the weight. If you have them over your shoulder the HT will do the balancing for you and you for the clubs. I own a used set of clubs, don't play as of yet, just getting the feel of them, out on the practice range. I know, haven't been there, done that yet. But don't know what the big deal is having to carry them while on the HT. My set isn't that heavy. The bag I think weighs more than my Graphite clubs do I think.

SegPolo is played with a giant ball that you can bump, kick or punch. Three or four feet in diamteter and weighted to keep it from blowing away. The weight also gives it a nifty unpredictable roll and causes it to become upright on landing making the advertising around its equator read to the countless throngs of onlookers and fans.
The game is divided into four "Segars" each of which are played alternating the goal in case wind or lighting is an issue. The problem with the game comes from the need to play on near-putting green conditions and the local golf course said NO after the first demo match.
The Goal is a netted cage or pair of uprights, whichever is cheapest.
Or was that SegHockey or SegSoccer?

I just got back from the course with some exciting info. Our golf course in Florida is private and little used. I tried every which way but loose for fun. I did polo golf, regular golf and all in between. The tires made absolutely no marks in the grass so I drove it across one of the greens and still no marks. By taking the Seg it saved me 40 bucks. The only thing I didnt like was having to get off and then put the kick stand down then restart with the key. I found an alternative. Just get off and put your butt against the Segway cloth bag then swing like hell at the ball. Its a great positioning tool. The Segway back pack like thing has a loop on the backside so I just stuck my 5 best clubs and went at it. Who need a club. Nobody questioned me at the club as they stuck their noses up and thought it was a fancy walking cart. One hole I even took both hands off the handles and wacked at it while on the Seg. Did just as good this way. Lets get a Segway golfers club.

That's very funny :-) I wonder if you'd be able to stand on it backwards and take a swing.

Hmm; if we could hook up an "e-series" Segway with a golf bag, I know a few people who would buy one up in a second. Think--go to the hole, step off, swing, get back on the seg. E-stand would rock.
