A bicycle in 1897 cost $25 ($2,200 today adjusted for inflation).
A Ford Model-T cost $850 in 1908 ($75,000 today adjusted for inflation).
(Can anyone point me to historical prices of horses?)

Nice pictures.......I'll bet you all had a lot of fun in the park! What did the other park goers have to say upon seeing 13 of you on your machines ??
Steve
We had a blast! There were actually 14 Segways. One came in late in the afternoon as I was leaving the area. The hightlight, imho, was when some of us went up and down a 15 degree grade wall or something in one area of the park!
It was great meeting all of you at this gathering.. let's do it again..:)

Great pictures guys! It helps me imagine what the group photo with Dean will look like at the Chicago Segway Fest 2003. It will probably be the largest gathering of HT's to date. We hope you all can be with us for this momentous event. Thanks for sharing your happy gathering with us!:D

LA got 13 gliders with 3 females, NYC had 12 with 3 females (1 didn't have it for the picture). NYC just gained an additional females with 2 segs). What is the % of male vs female based on population of LA and NYC. Someone want to play with the numbers?

LAa your group shot has 12 people and 13 Segways, In NYC we have photographer to document the events.
Itsi,
Count the person takin the picture as the 13th user.... we didn't have an official photographer.. but we do have an official Segway LLC representative to vouch for the event :) go Evelyn.. :)
Cosmo.. aren't you the one who took this group picture?

How about a little further south next time?
Glad you all had a good time.

Those HTs looked like Rockettes, all lined up there in a row. Loved it. Sounds like a good time was had by all.

Actually....we had 4 female gliders -- myself, Diane, Linda and Carole. One of the folks in the photo is Carole's son, who was our photographer at another point but who does not have a Segway, and for some reason Linda was not in the "wave" picture.
Does anyone from LA SUG want to share what we decided a "flock" of Segways is called?
(ie: if a group of geese is called a "gaggle...")

Thanks for clarifying, Evelyn. I was about to. But I'm Janice, not Diane. :)
It was great meeting everyone, and we especially were glad you were able to be there to share your insights with us.
Janice, of Dick and Janice Burke. Guess I'm gonna have to get my own handle one of these days.

I notice that 13 Segways communed in a public park and DIDN'T cause a ban ;)
LA is SEG FRIENDLY!

I'm not from the LA group but let me guess: a seggle? Or how about a 'large balance' of HTs? Or how about a 'fortune of Segways' i.e. about $70000 worth!
We had one visit from the Park rangers asking us to take away the cones from the side street where we blocked about 1/2 a block of parking strip. (We really thought there were gonna be 20-30 Segway owners to show up :) Other than that, everything was cool. Glided the day without a hitch..

Guys, Sorry I couldn't make it. My wife and I met my Mom in Las Vegas (she flew in from Pittsburgh). While we had a great time, I wish I could have been at Griffith Park as well. Maybe Chicago...

Great pictures, Cosmo! Rockettes, indeed! That was a good idea.
But just a reminder to interested readers to be sure and check out Peter iNova's thread and his Glidewalk site for the "official documentation" pictures of all attendees as well as his amusing narrative.

I'd imagine it's a chrome vinyl like 3M's 210 Deluxe Silver or some such product.

It's real chrome plating -- he did it the old fashioned way -- he did the whole chrome electroplating tank bath of the fenders. A very expensive process, as I understand. You first prep the plastic (so that it can electro plate) and then into the chrome bath it goes!
It is quite the spectacular sight. I must have admired its mirror-like perfection for ten minutes!

Im am a graduate assistant and trying to get ahold of COSMO. I am working for a professor who would like to use your 7th photo down (of the Segways in a model line up)in the next edition of his textbook.
I tried to get your email address from the memebr profile, but it was not available.
Cosmo, please conatct me at johnettlie@yahoo.com to discuss the use of this photo in an educational text book.
Thanks
Matt
