What a beautiful day it was in San Francisco!

Most people were surprised to hear that Segways were banned from SF sidewalks. Actually, many people were surprised to learn about a Segway.
Ironically, I ended up giving a bicycle-mounted DPT (Department of Parking and Traffic) officer a demo on the sidewalk.
There are just too many cars and not much room for them in The City. There were quite a number of cars parked directly on the sidewalks, too, because of not enough parking.
BTW, the French-built self-cleaning public restrooms are great! They're big enough to accomodate wheelchairs and (consequently) Segways. Cities need more of THOSE too! (http://www.sjunderbelly.com/unbelly/Sanjose/plaza/plaza15.html)

A bicycle in 1897 cost $25 ($2,200 today adjusted for inflation).
A Ford Model-T cost $850 in 1908 ($75,000 today adjusted for inflation).
