And if it drops the price of a Segway-like device to $1000, won't that be a good thing? (as long as they don't infringe directly on Segway LLC's or DEKA's patents)...

Anyone want to take a chance on a reverse-engineered 'Segway-like' device to save a few grand? Heck - take out all that redundant stuff, and the price will drop to about half. It's only good for ten seconds worth of riding anyway. And the savings in weight would increase the range. All you need to do is practice jumping off when something fails.

Hey! If they reduce the price of the Segway by eliminating some of the safety features that would eventually increase the demand for the ibot. [:O] ;) [}:)] Lincoln [8D]

This is cool news! My buddy is going to be moving to Singapore this summer, because his dad is becoming a missionary over there. I told him that he had better take pics of these Segway Singaporian Cops caning people for selling gum =)!
