My Gen 1 Segway tends to oscilate front to back when held in the holding position the second your hands are removed. It seems to operate fine otherwise.

I assume you have a i167 without a bag? Yep I think this is normal.

I know the gen I smaller model, the p133, does NOT do this, and I believe if the larger model, the i167, has some weight in the handle bar hanging bag the oscillation is dampened.

I have seen this on lots of Gen1 units. It's pretty easy to fix.

Add some weight to the handlebar, and raise the handlebar a bit. Most of us have the Segway 12.0 bag (http://www.amazon.com/Segway-Handlebar-Human-Transporter-Charcoal/dp/B0000AN42E) on our machines. Also the handlebar guard adds some weight and might help.

Most of these items can be purchased from a local dealer or e-bay.
