I heard back from my agent today. It took him 5 days to get the final answer from the national-level underwriters, but Farmer's Insurance considers our brand-new lovely Segway to be covered under our regular homeowner's insurance policy! So we are already covered for theft, or damage to someone's Razor if we run it over (heh), but we have no coverage for damage to the Seg if we hit something with it. Guess we'll just have to be careful! He called back just in time for us to go out for a first glide in between rainstorms--our house is too small to glide inside, so we are practicing on the deserted sidewalks of our neighborhood. We both had the biggest bug-catching Segway grins you've ever seen! Couldn't manage to run the battery down even one bar, but we did each get pushback on the black key (heh again).

Thanks! One misunderstanding I'd like to clear up though--we only bought one. We had to share today (fortunately we're good at sharing) which as a practical matter meant that one of us would roll off down the sidewalk, then roll back to our driveway to report on uneven sidewalks, or who has the smoothest driveway cutout, and then we'd swap. Paula says that come warmer weather I'd have to tie her to the furniture to keep her off of it--I think she likes it!

Oh happy days!! We got our HT yesterday. Did you get the revised battery instructions? I've posted them today.

Yep, we got them too. As a practical matter we'll end up only going for one glide a day for the rest of this week anyway--it's too frickin' cold to go out at dusk or later! And we're waiting for clear spots, which in Oregon in April limits our rides to 20 minutes duration, roughly.
