View Full Version : Fix a Flat ?

I've been a bit concerned about being out and about and coming up short with a flat. Does anyone recommend a can of fix-a-flat stuff?
Also are the Seg's tires better and more resistant to a flat than a bike? I'm sure one wouldn't want to ride home on a flat. Not good!
Six days with my new Seg. Having a ball. Now able to use the full battery, got up the nerve to try my town's long and steepest hill. 4 lanes with rough side walk. No problem pulling my 220 lbs. up and over. I was glad for the regenerating, going back down...

Hi Gary Sailor, Segway has a new tire with a more aggressive tread if you're concerned about the tires. A while back I did ask a Segway employee about the liquid fix a flat, but I forgot what the response was. I know they sell the tire and wheel as one part under Kit Number: 1693700001.

Thanks Glide Master for the reply, I'll check out the tougher tires but still curious about the fix a flat gunk...

I asked one of the developers from LLC at training about tires. He said they considered offering a repair kit with plugs and "slime". He said that the tires are tubeless, but you can add a tube if you like, and that it is a standard tube.
He said slime is fine and they highly recommend it. I didn't ask him about fix a flat, but it is probably ok as well. I am partial to slime since it prevents the flat as opposed to fixing it.
Someone else on the board said that you are less likely to get a flat because of the very low (15psi) tire pressure.

I agree - 15 psi and no tubes is a good thing. My 100 psi bike tires will blow out if you even look at 'em the wrong way! I finally ended up getting tire liners... The problem with the "gunk" leak stoppers is that they really make a mess, but they DO work.
