Late yesterday afternoon (between 4pm and 5pm)- one of my co-workers saw somone gliding in downtown Seattle on 3rd avenue (in the traffic lanes on the street:eek:). It wasn't me as I was on the sidewalks near there...so who was it?
Are you lurking here?

I don't know who it was, but I see two Segways regularly near Microsoft. One of them is the new sage green color with the bags attached. That looks like the one to get in my opinion.
I also saw a segway rider on a red I180 in Renton on Friday, and another one near crossroads in Bellevue a few days ago.
So I've seen at least three Segways in he wild near my home and possibly 4. (I think there might be a fourth near Microsoft)
There would be five if I could gather enough money up ;)

Wasn't me. I am on Mercer Island and still scared to ride near streets!! Did ride over I-90 to Bellevue once.

I'm pretty sure the sage green one near Microsoft is "scotty1024" - he works at the same place as me and as of Friday takes his on the bus across the lake & parks it next to my white i2 in the company bike parking area...still curious who was actually riding around downtown Seattle (besides me)...

I think that I saw Scotty again yesterday out in the neighborhood.
I don't think I've seen the white seg there. That must be due to my work schedule. Do they allow segways on the Connector? ...another great reason to work at Microsoft :)

They use to just stand there and watch you go by.

You probably did see Scotty if you saw a sage green one with side bags running about the eastside yesterday. My white i2 is almost never on the eastside - I live in Ballard and work downtown with Scotty, so chances of seeing me on "the wrong side of the lake" :D are remote. We are both software guys, but not at Microsoft, so we can't comment on "the connector". I believe Scotty takes SoundTransit into Seattle from Bellevue because Seattle Metro won't allow him to bring his Segway (even with his disability pass :().

So far I haven't seen any ADA accommodation on any of the Connector vehicles. No sign of any lifts in the full size touring buses nor any lifts in the smaller tour van sized vehicles. As the vehicles sit there at the transit center I've glided slowly past just inches away from their freshly painted white and green exteriors.
I did witness a tour van go by one day pulling what appeared to me to be a trailer full of racked bicycles. I have no earthily clue why they'd be transporting bicycles but I swear its what I saw.
I've seen three of the Connector Prius' nearly collect bicycles on their front bumpers, kinda sorta like the local public buses (they carry bicycles up front on swing up bicycle racks), only the bicycles in question didn't seem to want a lift.
Commuting through the Microsoft campus down 156th is positively entering a hazard zone. Low hanging branches over the sidewalks (my poor Giro Atmos!) Mis-adjusted sprinklers pelting you with streams of water as you pass. Various prickly plants over growing onto the sidewalks. Uneven and ramped sidewalk panels make for a teeth rattling ride. I've witnessed a much higher rate of inattentive drivers almost hitting pedestrians/bicyclists in crosswalks. And hoards of Microsoft employees filling crosswalks white line to white line and failing to yield right of way to anyone going the other direction. I've never had a spontaneous pleasant conversation with anyone there. To me its been kind of like entering Metropolis especially when you're facing a solid wave of workers crossing the street on their way in/out: its chilling to me the visual similarity.
Given the choice I'd avoid it but alas the closest Sound Transit route to Seattle lies directly, and unavoidably, through it. Zip the Arc'teryx fully, grab the air horn tightly, gird the loins, ride the gauntlet, try not to become a busted sack of protoplasm. Its the worst part of my daily Segway commute.

I've been seeing more Segways at random here in Long Beach. Anyone on the forum?

I just saw the 3rd Ave Seattle Segwayer today at about 4:10pm going north on 3rd avenue in the inner lane (there are 2 lanes each way) between Spring and Seneca. He was on a first gen machine and appeared to have a garment bag in his hand....I couldn't get his attention as I was on foot about 1/2 a block behind him...I'll keep my eyes peeled around that time and see if I can catch up to him on my segway (I leave the office around 4pm myself).
