As i was inserting the infokey of my i2 onto the handlebars, I hit some weird key combination which said, I think, "15.0 SPD", and as I hit the upper right button which toggles through all the data, the 15.0 SPD was followed by an "OFF" message.

There is no problem with the i2, but I am intrigued by the message. Does anyone know if there is a secret 15.0 mph mode that I stumbled across? Anyone know? I searched for an 1 hour and couldn't find any information on the message.

What you saw was probably the shutdown timeout option, which is accessed by holding down the "info toggle" button (with the machine powered off, the info key displaying the odometer).

The options for how long it takes for the machine to switch itself off in riderless balance mode (RBM) are 4 sec, 30 sec , 1 min, 5 min, 15 min.

I think what you saw was the shutdown time option of 15 min.

There are other options in that menu as well (speed 1 and speed 2; turtle, and advanced, respectively, which you can toggle as well, by hitting the "lock" button)

Good luck with exploring the wonderful world of a gen 2 Segway!

P.S. Since June 2007, new infokey SW allows this functionality.

Thanks very much...I think that is what I hit. I did now try to replicate the message and I put the infokey on odometer and then held that button in for 10+ seconds but nothing happened. Did I do something wrong?

Make sure that your segway is powered completely OFF. :-)

I think I answered my own question. I tried the other infokey and it cycled through perfectly. The other infokey will not go into that mode. There must be a button pressing problem. I'll remove the battery and play around wqith it to see if I can get it going.

Do you know if one key is set to the way you want it....will the other key also have the same settings? Or do I need to set both alike?

Thanks again...I really appreciate the help.

The early keys didn't have that function. Your second key must have the later firmware.

I don't know if the timeout setting is stored in the key or the base. My guess is the base. Try setting the timeout to 4 seconds, then starting with the older key.

Yep, one was way older....Thanks.

I'll check and see whether it's stored on the infokey or the base. I'm guessing it's the base.

The firmware for the function is stored (and updated) in the base, but to access that information, the infokey has to have the proper software, and that's stored on the key (non-upgradable, in the sense that for the upgrade, one would need to get a new infokey).
