Anybody have issues with wearing a backpack? I have to carry my books and it can become pretty wobbly especially if it's windy. How light should I have to keep my backpack for it to not be a problem?

Depends, I think. ;)

There are a lot of variables involved in your question. Your weight/height, what kind of clothes you'd be wearing, size/shape of your backpack (Will it alter the surface area that the wind hits?), weight of your load, etc.

I sometimes use a 50-liter backpack for Costco runs. It adjusts enough to snug up to my back without sticking into the wind, but if my load is heavy then my i2 performs differently.

You just gotta try it and see for yourself, especially for crosswinds.

Good gliding! :)

You can probably carry as much weight as you're comfortable with. The key is to NOT let the weight shift around. Suddenly having the weight shift, and your instinct to catch it can be dangerous.

I've gone gliding around toting a five gallon water bottle on my shoulder with no problems.

You just need to comfortable, and careful.

these guys are right on the money. as long as you are staying within riding weight limits and not letting your backend (for lack of a better term) wiggle you about in the breeze you are not putting yourself or your glide in any danger!

Yep, you have to get used to it. I used a back pack when I was in school a couple of years ago. Just be cautious when you lean (don't try any jack-rabbit starts), and give yourself extra braking distance.

My backpack was a guitar in a gig bag. Had to remember to duck for doorways.
