And I did not fall off!

A couple of friends were in town so we put together a little Segway Tour of my neighborhood.

It was great fun, one of my neighbors who went on it, said she had never seen some of the things we saw last night before, and she had lived in the 'hood for more than 5 years. As we went up and down alleys, by interesting groups of houses, and into a couple of parks, as well as down our main street Connecticut Avenue by the historic Avalon Theater and Chevy Chase Arcade.

I had not ridden the I-167 much since having the i2, but it was a real trooper, it is still running its NiMh batteries which of course used up two bars compared to the one bar on the x2 and almost no bars on the i2. Still just as much fun as it ever was!

When I put the newbies on the I-167 so they could see how that worked at the end of the tour, they both commented on how much easier the i2 was to use.

Tonight they all go on a real tour downtown with one of the DC Segway Tour Companies, so they wanted a little experience before they went off to do that.

Whopper you must have been reading my mind. I went to take out my I-167 one day last week but when I got it down stairs and stood on it I realized both of my tires needed some air and I could not find my pump.
I was so disappointed. Maybe this weekend if weather permits I'll get to take it for a glide. My 180 is just fine and in tip top shape.

and filled the tires with air before going out.

I forgot just how much fun an I-167 really is!

Find that air pump and get out and glide!

I'm a minority of one. I prefer my i180 to an i2. I've tried the i2 for some reasonably long gliding, but most of my gliding is along Ocean Front Walk and the bike path, and that long, straight gliding just works better for me on an i180. If I were to do most of my gliding on the bombed-out sidewalks of Venice, CA, or if I had to do a lot of turning, I'm sure I'd prefer the i2, but as it is, I like what I've got better.

There's a used Jeep shop near us, and almost every time I drive by they have a different lineup of them. Just the other day I saw a nicely fixed-up Willys. Good paint job, whitewalls, etc.

Then I imagined how it would be to drive one. No synchro. Three forward gears in an H pattern either on the column or the floor. Maybe even a starter button on the floor. No power brakes or steering.

No thanks.

There are a LOT of old cars and trucks down here in Florida and plenty of old-timers to pine for them, and a lot of them still driving them around. Maybe if I was loaded I'd have one or two, too.

I put a lot of happy miles on my 167, but when I got my i2 it was like maybe what this other old-timer I met described to me how it felt to drive his new Mercedes S600 with its automatic speed-adjust cruise control, and he said he could be doing 100 and punch it and it would set him back in the seat.

I love how the i2 turns. I just lean aggressively with my body and the machine complies. It's so smooth and natural. I think it's the realization of the original concept, and I'm so happy I upgraded.
