As much as I love my red i180 (I named him G.O.B.), my Segway experience has sadly been ruined by constant heckling and insults. After two years of this, I'm ready to sell.

Does anyone know how I would go about selling G.O.B.? Would it be something my local dealer would buy or should I put an ad on Craigslist? How much could I expect to get given that it's two years old with a lock and a bag and has recently been tuned up with no problems? I really don't know.

Any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you.

I can't help you with selling it, but I would encourage you to seek out the threads on this site from those of us that hear the same things. Each situation is different, but for me, the ocasional insult I hear pales when compared to the freedom that my Segway has given me. I don't care what anybody says, think about it: when their mouth closes they have to walk back to the car or the doghouse or wherever they happen to roost at the time.

I know it's not wise to insult just anybody, but maybe it would help if you just think how they manage to get two eyes on a face that is wrapped around such a narrow mind (maybe one of the hecklers can tell you).

I don't know if this will help, everyone has different thresholds of aggravation, so if it doesn't, someone here will step in and give you direction if you still want to sell.

This is free.

Craigs list is OK, but you get some wierdos from there.

Check with your dealer to see if they do consignment.

This is a great time to sell a Segway, as the market demand is up. We have been getting lots of calls at our dealership lately for used machines, and we are bringing in a number of machines through trade ins or consignement to meet the demand.

Semolina, please read the "Snappy answers to stupid comments" thread. The suggestions range from mellow to In Your Face.

Ultimately, everyone's experience is unique and you have to do what's best for yourself. :o

Just remember, you're on a Segway, and they're not. :D

It's all about the glide. :)

Aloha,
Roger

p.s.: "Ganbare" is Japanese for "Hang in there!"

Get an ipod, load your favorite music and turn it up. You will never hear a thing. When you see that someone is saying something just smile and wave. You will also enjoy your glides even more with the ipod jamming with your tunes. Don't let them control YOUR life.

Good luck.

Semolina,

First off, this is NOT intended at you...

Some previous posters have commented on this same subject. They seem to have issues wherever they go.

Never has this happened to me or anyone that I've glided with in cities, rural areas or other countries throughout the globe.

There is even a glider that keeps getting cited by the local law enforcement agency that doesn't give anyone else tickets but this person.

We are all ambassadors of a unique and wonderful device. There are certain responsibilities that go with being on the forefront.

Always keeping this in mind will help those that come after you.

But back to your question, maybe stopping and educating those people might help? Otherwise, keep the Segway and move to another part of the city. :)

Try this, ignore them. Are you going to let some myopic fools dictate how you live your life ?
I didn't think so. Go about your business and pay no attention to them.

a Segway 'tune up'?

I had the software updated and the inside cleaned at my local dealer. Riding on the dirty streets of Philly built up a lot of gunk.

I've tried by best to ignore this for two solid years, and I'm just done. As sad as it makes me to sell, I'd rather see someone get use out of G.O.B. than see him sit like a giant paperweight in my living room.

When you are walking and someone makes fun of you will you sell you legs also?? Be proud, man. At least you can afford a Segway. If you were in the perfect career would you get out because you got laughed at? I'm black and have been made fun of and had derogetory comments thrown at me but, man, I ain't changin'-I can't-racially speaking. Forget everyone else, be yourself. It's more fun than being what they want you to be.

Hopefully this includes his decision to sell his Segway is he choses.

Holy poo guys, he just asked for some help. Why is everyone trying to convince him he's wrong? If he wants out, he wants out.
