It certainly is a great day :)

I was one of the persons that the SWOV have asked to participate in their test. But for the rest I haven't been really involved. Segway NL and minister Paul de Krom have done a lot of effort to get the Segway legal in the Netherlands.

To summarize the whole situation: in worst case we have to wait until the 1st of July, but it might be a bit earlier that the Segway will be allowed. Segway needs to have lights and an alert, you need to have an insurance and the Segway needs to be identified, we will need to have a big chunky license plate on the Segway. The ministers will keep working on changing the law and create a special vehicle category, the Segway will be the first allowed vehicle in this new category.

So we still have to wait for a little while, so enough time for me to find out which accessories I want to buy for the Segway, and find out where I can get the I2 for the best price.

Do you think this will get as much international coverage as the "Segway Banned in Holland" received. Every one of my friends and relatives reminded me of that. Anybody taking bets?

I doubt it, nationally all the media have mentioned it. But from international perspective bad news is much more interesting then good news. Here we also only hear the bad news from the USA.
