Would any of the UK gliders be interested in a bit of a get together?

I know we are spread far and wide, but I'm sure we could source somewhere reasonably central to all have a coffee (or stronger!) and maybe go for a glide (although this will of course be quite limited!). Maybe you know of some private track's or trails we could use?

Ideas and suggestions please, or email me if you prefer!

Oh, and I'm not looking to make this a UK Fest, just a bit of a social gathering, as I guess most of us don't get to meet up and glide and chat together.

Well, I am assuming the majority of UK Seggers are down towards the south of the UK...but if any of you want to take a break in the Lakes, the Forestry Commission has given me permission to glide their cycle paths in Grizedale Forest, 15 minutes from where I live. These tracks are gravelled tracks that my i2 copes with fine (although some of the bumpier bits gives me a neutral face occasionally if I go a bit fast). x2's & gen 1's should be good too.

There are miles & miles of tracks...far too much to tackle on one charge, and no worries about legality of use ;) See some of their info here (http://www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/infd-5k2c5b)

It would be good to meet up.

If there are enough people interested maybe we rent a 12 seater minibus and travel up for a long weekend?

I could do a cheap rental on some extra machines for spouses and partners!

Shall we let Gareth play, seeing as he's defected to "the other side"? :D

...or just let him stand on the sidelines & watch? Nah - an hour or two on an x2 around Grizedale will get him back in the clan ;)

Hey - you can count me in. It's true, I might be segwayless if it takes place after 5th of April, but I'd be happy to rent an x2!

I will be visiting the UK during August / September.

If you have a get together at that time, please let me know.

Dates are still to be sorted Michael, but no matter what, it would be good to get to meet you. I seem to recall your visiting scotland etc, so could be a stretch (for me anyway) but lets keep in touch.

Hi
Not been here for quite a while, nice to se some UK representation! A meet up would be great, I'm in Birmingham so I can go up or down. Grizdale is a good 3 hours from here, when you pick a date can you recommend somewhere nice to stay?
Cheers
Benjamin

Mmmm, now let me think ;)

Nick has been in contact. This is a busy week for him, but when some ideas on dates are settled on, I'm sure there'll be a rapid post on here.

Hi
As this get together happened yet?

I bought a segway last week so can join in.

I'm in South Yorshire so North or South is good for me.

I seriously doubt I'll be visiting the UK in the foreseeable future but...any thought to checking with the Royal School of Artillery? They have most of Salisbury Plains and use it as their tank playground (Panzer Spielplatz?), why not Segways?

Hi Phil,
Nope, no get together as yet. Nickyboy has been very quiet of late and I know he was very busy, so not sure of the current situation.

Good to hear of another northern compadre! :)

Sorry for not responding of late, pressure of work and some health issues (ticker not ticking properly, but has not stopped yet!!!!).

I don't think I am going to be able to organise anything for this year. Business is very tight, we are loosing sales to the muppets grey importing from the States (may they all develop power base failure, thats all I can say).

By the way, 20 Segways being used at Wembley this weekend, so keep an eye out for the events around the communit shield.

Gotta dash.
