Tell me a story about a unique ride.

I seem to remember one person telling me of a path to an abandoned missile site. That would be interesting.

See http://www.lamountains.com/parks.asp?parkid=54 for missile site info. This ride was suggested by dave in http://forums.segwaychat.com/showthread.php?t=14722&highlight=missile+base

Another great ride for X-series riders is up Silverado Mountain. Kinda beats you (and the Seg) to death on an i-series, with the washed out gravel road.

These are the rides for which Segway INC really needs to make it possible to do a user switchover from sidewalk to offroad use.

I wish I could just change a setting with the info key and slap on a different set of wheels and tires.

If so, you could swap them without suffering the torque loss of putting on the larger X-series; torque loss on Silverado would be a killer (maybe literally). Might not get quite the aggressive grip of the X-series off-road tires on some surfaces, but at least they'd be soft enough to absorb the bumps. Don't know about wear of turf tires, but if that is poor, I wonder if anyone has tried replacing standard X-series tires with lower profile tires that might give a rolling diameter closer to the i-series.
