This video has a couple of quick shots (around the 1:20 mark) of steadicam inventor Garrett Brown riding the handsfree version of the segway, modified for use with steadicam. It's followed by a shot of Jerry Holway, riding the same rig.
I know this rig has been covered here before, but for those of you unfamiliar with this segway mod, there's a support pad that goes between your knees and you steer using levers under your toes. I'm a steadicam operator myself (having trained with Garrett and Jerry) and I've ridden this segway. It's a bit awkward at first, but you quickly adjust. It has limited real-world applications for steadicam, but it's good for things like parades where you'd have to cover a lot of ground but don't have to worry about uneven surfaces.
And for those of you interested in a fun steadicam-related story, check out this blog post, in which yours truly nearly causes an international incident.

We have a couple people on SC who have handsfree units based on the i2, and that eliminates the need for the levers; the pads merely attach to the lower part of the LSF. Segsby has promised to post his video soon of Ari on his. Marty, do you have any video of yours?

I'd wondered about how this would be modified for I2 use, and if it's still useable for steadicam. The knee brace is pretty important for stability when suited up with the steadicam.

Itsi Adkins in New York has a Steadicam and most of us that meet in New York have already ridden his ..A little tricky at first with the pedals to steer..Wasn't a Seg I would want . Itsi has made a few short movies on his for his own enjoyment..

I wonder if the handsfree setup for the i2 would work with a steadycam if you mounted the steadycam on the lower cargo frame to help support its weight?

I tried a variation of the handsfree segway configuration, at the NAB convention a couple of years ago. They had hard-mounted the steadicam to the handlebars of the segway. It worked pretty well, taking the weight off of the operator, but it was difficult to steer with one hand and operate the steadicam with the other.
I have a steadicam, and an i2. Maybe this spring I'll try to come up with some kind of hard mount using the cargo frame. Interesting idea.

Look the pictures of our steadycam solution. We call it the Funky-Move Movie Seg - very famous in europe.. we developed and patented it in the last year.. The model you can see on the pictures is developed for golf and beach turnaments - or for Segway-Polo..
For indoor activitys you can use our knee-steer at a normal i2. At Segfest in indianapolis we present it to you. We sell it in our online shop - www.funky-move-custom.com for 965 Euro incl. tax..
We also have a litte movie on youtube - it was at the german formula 1 race track - called nürburgring..
hope you enjoy it

Just wanted to see if anyone has used the funky handsfree mod?
Or if anyone had any info on the mod that Ari does?

I'd love to go to segfest.
But I'd like to buy my seg and get the right mod to go without handlebars

I thought I had seen a thread with a picture of the cut down post and plexy leg saddles. I just can't seem to find it. Anyone know where its hiding?
