I found this poking around in YouTube. Notice it has something every Gen 2 glider wants....bluetooth remote!

Blue Tooth pairing and control would be awesome. My guess is that it opens up a small issue of hackability as it is a far more widely known system and of course it also brings up the e-stand issue which Segway Inc. seems opposed to at this point.
Pity they lost control and wrecked it.

Couple of points of interest:
1. Notice how wide the glider's stance had to be. Might be a function of stability (move your feet inwards and you will likely get lots of roll.
2. It appears to require heavy-handed control. Look at the glider's hands and forearms each time he gets close to the camera. While I can't be sure it does appear as if he is muscling the unit.
3. Low ground clearance, high platform height = potential stability problem.
However, all that being said, not a bad first start, especially with 4.5 KM per hour additional speed.

Looking at the clear enclosure brings out my inner hacker. It would be sweet if you could take a computer enclosure like that and make it self balancing and remote controlled, that way you could drive it around your house.:D

Remote control would only be possible if the Segway had an interactive "e stand" mode that let it run without a rider onboard...
This machine went faster, & has e-stand with remote operation. Quite nice for a 20 week thesis project.

Thats the best I've seen so far.
It won't be long until another "self balancing" device of merritt surfaces.
Now if anybody would market one is another story.
Unless they can hit a price point.
