Anybody interested in doing a circuit of the Newport Backbay loop this Saturday, December 1?

I did it a couple of weekends ago and it was pretty nice. Started at the SegOC store, rode up to PCH, picked up the loop and returned to the store. Trip time was, as I recall, about 1.5 hours.

it's a google earth route file.

I love it as it showed the earth, then focused down on the route!

Then when I zoomed in, I remember seeing some of those places in the days before fesT last year when I was roaming around in that neck of the woods.

Google is always amazing!

As long as it isn't too early, I'd be up for it (saturday morning after friday night, you know...). Back bay is a nice glide area.

Well, we can start at the SegOC store, do the loop and hit up Ruby's on the pier or there's also a few other places if that's not working for you.

Make sure to bring a couple of dollar singles for the ferry!

11 it is then.

We can meet in front of the store. I assume you already know that the best parking is around back in the public lot. This time of year there should be no issues with finding a spot.

I may join you. If I'm not there, that probably means I won't -- my bikes are beginning to growl at me every time I walk by. There's free parking on Balboa Blvd west of the store and I've always found spots within a couple blocks.

Rain forecast for Sat. What about Sun? At the very least we should exchange phone numbers by PM.

Sunday is completely out for me so if it rains Saturday I won't be joining you then, but right now I'm reading the very slimmest of chances on that rain forecast. Still, that's a couple of days away and not really valid for flight planning yet. :)

Cell number on it's way via PM.

Looks like we may luck out after all.
At the time of this posting there is a small band that continues to the west, but behind that there is some very dry, cold air.

The "dry, cold air" I mentioned is the brown area just to the west of us in the above image.

Need to fill in for a sick co-worker, so won't be able to make the glide after all. Next time I hope!

Stay warm & dry everyone...

Pity. Would have been fun for you I'm sure.

Oh well, I'm thinking of doing something to celebrate our "official" ability to ride bike trails at the New Year. Maybe then.

I managed to get my battery troubles resolved in time, and was able to make the back bay loop.

It was a nice bracing glide, and no smoke in sight (or smell);)

Let's do it again....

Yep! Always fun learning a slightly different variation of stuff. I hadn't been aware of a couple of turns and twists that you were able to show us in the route. Also interesting to stop by the Nature Center. So easy to by-pass normally. I never knew a civilian -could- stop in.
