"Carefree, hassle-free, carbon-free, and now the accessories are free."

I have a problem with this statement.

Owning a Seg has been anything but carefree and hassle-free. Some early adopters will agree that it's been a long, frustrating and often difficult road.

For the other members who were as confused as myself as to what Brooster was talking about, Newsletter 16, dated today, is available on the Segway website at:
http://www.segway.com/about-segway/media-center/newsletters.php

You can subscribe to newsletters at the bottom of the page; this is the first one in the last 15 months and I was never advised to subscribe. Not easy to even find them. Seems to mostly duplicate the blog info (except for the stand announcement) and no explanation of why the newsletter numbers skipped "15". Just another example I guess . . .

Just another example I guess . . .By examining the links for #14 & #16, I came up with this:

http://www.segway.com/about-segway/media-center/newsletters/general_015.html

There's something there, but the image links seem mangled. Maybe the site update back in August had something to do with that. It appears by the context that #15 was produced in late 2006. I hadn't seen it until just now.

Since the title banner of #15 still says #14, it may have been an incomplete update and not intended for distribution.

Has never been so much fun!

"You can't go there... Your not allowed in here... Segways are not allowed - but wheelchairs are."

Never has a quote been so on target....

That's why it's called "marketing". SEGsby

Plus for those dealers that did not sign on to buy a stated amount of units by a stated date are not going to be offering free accessoreis - because they did not get free accessories to offer. And as I recall the number of free accessories was limited.

But is "Free" The most clicked on word on the internet.

And for those with a wobble in their wheel, a washer on the right lug of their wheel will offer a temporary fix for that, a gearbox assembly and wheel flange will take care of it permantly.

Yup Its all about the marketing baby,
Marketing called something defective a "feature"
Marketing calls a recall a "Upgrade to make the product even better"
Marketing promotes something that doesn't need promotion.

Shakespeare said "first we kill all the lawyers"
The marketers said "And the next group will be new and improved"

Maybe I am in the minority, but the last 4 years and 7,000 miles on my P series segway truly have been "carefree and hassle-free".

My segway just keeps going and going with no problems. And Tallahassee is a wonderful place to glide. The police and other pedestrians are very friendly, even though they are often jealous. There has never been any concern about me rolling my segway past the security guards at the State Government building where I work for the Florida Legislature and park my segway next to my desk in my cubicle. I get easy access to anywhere I feel the need to go. Of course, I usually lock mine to a nearby bike rack when entering banks, stores, libraries, restaurants, etc, because that seems reasonable to me.

The segway has actually made the biggest improvement in my quality of life, other than marrying a wonderful wife and having two wonderful kids, and I still have that segway smile whenever I glide.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change? :)

You talkin to me? I'm in such a good mood right now it is crazy. The sun is shining and it is about 70 degrees outside. When I get home from work I'm gonna take a nice glide to the video game store to pick up my buddy's new release, bring it home and then play it all night.

In most discussion groups where there is discussion about the pros and cons of anything, the most vocal are those with problems or perceived problems.

This is an excellent place of discussion and on the whole is well moderated and conducted.

My i2 is just over a year old now with 800+ miles and doing fine. Lots of folks that never post here are enjoying theirs. This Saturday we have a group glide put together by Scott, our local dealer. It will be in the historic area of Roswell, GA. Most of the folks that show up for these never post in Segchat and they all love their Segs. So....

I've not posted as much as I used to. Seems sometimes folks like to disagree just for the purpose of being critical and will find a way to criticize any post. But I hope you agree, you're really not in the minority.

With the basic comfort package (which should be in the base price) (I purchased the package) being given away, then the price of the i2 unit has actually gone down. A good thing for marketing I think.

Enjoy your Seg

Is this the "ball hammer" to which you refer?

Daily commute - I2's are not suitable for Polo.

The rumor I heard was that the i2's now have a thicker mounting plate just like the x2. Since I never measured either when they first came out nor now, I can't really say much. Maybe one of the dealers would know if the first batch of i2's had thinner mounting plates.

ps - I'll emphasize again, this is a RUMOR. I may be inadvertantly spreading it in my quest for more knowledge.

I guess "marketing" is the answer. There certainly wasn't any real "news" in this particular newsletter ... at least that I could find. Disappointing, because past newsletters always had at least a "snippet" or two of what was happening in the world of Segway.

Slow news period, I guess.

Greetings from the old homestead in Chicago, where I'm spending a week of vacation painting the place (fun!). It's good to be "home." Back to CT on Saturday.

Best,
Broo
