I spent an great sunny Saturday afternoon gliding in and around downtown Jackson Mississippi. From what I can tell, i'm the only person in Mississippi that owns a segway - which always means i'm a lone glider.
Nonetheless - I had a great time.
Here's a link to my blog posting with some youtube video to boot.

Matthew,
So, all you know about your model of Segway is that it doesn't have the "steering turn thing?":) I can assure you that you are not the only Segway owner in MS. Zorba9 is in Oxford, which I make to be about 70 miles from you. I suspect he can suggest ways for you to get a lot more use out of your i180.
The quality of your video and editing was quite good. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for posting the video.. it's nice to see some familiar footage. We recently moved to NC from MS (lived in both Oxford and Jackson in the past). We'll be passing through at Thanks Giving and I'm taking my i2, so I'm glad to know there are some good places to glide

Cool video. :) The Edit when you said the golf thing didn't work out, made me laugh.
Looks like a great area to Seg and see cool historical stuff. Didn't see many other pedestrians about, so yeah, primo-seggin area by the looks of it.

Hey John,
Thanks for the clarification on the model - yes I did know this; however it just did not come to me when I was shooting the video - for some reason I always go blank when I need to state a fact. Go figure. I don't know this Zorba9 guy, but will look him up. Oxford is about 2.5 hours from me. I went to College there at the University of Mississippi - which is a great place to glide. I am certain of that.. great old college town - hilly with some beautiful old buildings and campus structures.
In downtown Jackson there is nothing going on during the weekends - downtown is completely deserted. The glide was fun - however I became quite aware of how bad the curb access is for disabled persons. Not only did most of the street corners not have access ramps - many of the sidewalks were very uneven - with huge gaps and/or potholes. I cut that part of the video out - as I went on a big tangent about the poor condition.
I live in a suburb that is much better maintained with plenty of local parks, post offices, shopping centers that I can glide to - and during the Spring, Summer and Fall I do so when i am in town. I travel a great deal for work and have even taken my Segway with me on a few trips.
Again - thanks to all who've responded. Have a great weekend.

When he first bought his I-180 a while back.
Come back to DC, so we can glide again!
Segway of Annapolis sold another set of segs to a guy who owns a campground in Mississippi. But he bought them as a status symbol on his yacht, not for real use.

Hi Matthew, Neat video! Friend of Ostin... our SC member from Birmingham , going to school in Georgia?? "Ole Miss" is indeed a great place to glide, we've been at it since early 2003 starting with 2 HT's. There used to be several other Mississippi SC members but we haven't heard from them in quite a while. My current gliding is mainly off-road, slipping around trails in the "deep" woods seeking out Bambi's great-grandfather (he's a sneaky fellow). Mmmm, roast venison for Thanksgiving anyone? If you ever get back up this way I've got some studded Segway tires we can put on your 180 so you can try some off-roading yourself!

Hi Zorba - Ostin is the name of my French Bulldog - I'm his BFF (Best Friend Forever) so that's what i've called my website - and usernames for a number of sites.
I've taken my seg on a deer hunt last year. Was able to get all the way to my tree stand except for the whir of the gyros. Of course there wasn't much mud and I had picked a spot right off of a field which made it easier.
