“The Science Channel” (a cable channel) has a half hour show, “How It’s Made”. It’s about industry/manufacturing and covers three or four items getting fabricated on each show.

About a year ago I happened across an How It’s Made episode that included our favorite ‘It’ being Made. They never said the word “Segway”, for some reason, but always used the term “Individual Transporter”. It was great to watch, and there I discovered that the transporter’s gyroscopes were not tiny, gimbaled, spinning disks, but little green circuit board things!

I have diligently looked and looked for a replay of that episode since later becoming a Segway owner and crossing over to the glide side.

Well, today my DVR guide shows a soon-upcoming “How It’s Made” with this program description: “Individual transporters; cedar canoes; electric guitars. Other”. It’s on at 5:30 and 8:30 this evening, November 1. This is Pacific time (San Diego), on Cox Cable. The Science Channel repeats their “How It’s Made”s to death, so if you miss these two times, it will show up again.

It looks fairly old, but fun to watch if you haven’t seen it before.

Thanks!

Now I've got my DVR set up, as well, as DirectTV also carries the Science Channel, in HD.

Looking forward to this.

I told Dragan about this show quite a while back, and he managed to record the important part. He had it on the web, but I no longer have the link. It was posted on here quite some time ago though, it's an old show, and it shows gen 1 machines.

DirecTV also has "How it's Made" on channel 278 (Discovery channel).

With my service package, the Discovery channel is included in the package but the Science channel is an additional subscription fee.

So if you don't get channel 284....try channel 278.

I watched the Youtube video posted in this thread (http://forums.segwaychat.com/showpost.php?p=155260&postcount=7) and I also watched the show recorded from the Science channel. I liked the TV show better; it was a little longer and they used US units (Miles instead of Kilometers, etc.). It's nice to see that they have more than one narration for the show in order to accommodate their audience.

Both my wife and I enjoyed the little segment. :)

When I looked at the channel guide the episode on the Discovery channel appeared to be a different episode from the one on the Science channel.

Was it different or did both channels show the same episode?

It was different. Science Channel and Discovery are "sister channels" of A&E Network, and frequently run the same series on any of the networks, but - as you pointed out - different episodes.

Think of it like syndication vs. first-run. "Family Guy" might be on six different channels Sunday night at 8, but none of those other channels are going to be showing the same episode that's being broadcast by Fox at that same time.

It would be nice if the Science Channel/Segway could update the show with the gen2's as I imagine that the assembly has been simplified.
