I think KBB will only cheerfully list E.P.A.M.V.s, not E.P.A.M.D.s. I could be wrong...

That was undoubtedly the most understandable Mr. Laurenzano post I have ever read. You should copy and paste more often! ;)

My best guess is that it takes a vehicle. Many don't think the segway is one, and many fight to keep it that way...

I don't know about classifying the Segway as a vehicle or even if that makes sense. It is a form of transportation, and for many people takes the place of a vehicle.
In any case, I think that this is a "problem" that will sovle itself. Once Segways are more prevalent there will be websites (whether KBB or NADA is not relevant) that will provide services for classifying and rating used Segways. Maybe a section on Segchat to start with... :)

That reminds me: is there a way to see which year my i167 was built?

That reminds me: is there a way to see which year my i167 was built?Since my i-167 is long out of warranty, I opened the powerbase and looked at the CU boards. Nearly every IC has a date code and the CU boards also have revision / date codes. You can't get a firm "PT production" date out of that, but by looking at the latest date code found, you can get an idea of when the last of the parts came in and assembly commenced for that particular sub-assembly.
And once out of warranty, what's more important, the date it was sold, or how old the internal components are?
I made some notes on mine when I had it open last time, here is what I found I.D.-wise on the CU board:P/N: 1400600001 PCBA 7200-000022
DELPHI P/N: 05/2002 122009961 REV L
December 3, 2001 <QED> PCB 4000-000019-340
The serial number on the PT is in the 0055XX range. I didn't record all the datecodes on all the ICs, but recall that many of them fell around the time of the revision dates indicated on the CU boards. Meaning the individual ICs were being produced around the same time the design of this revision CU board was being finalized.
With the CU board revision info, plus the IC date code info, I concluded that my PT was "produced" no earlier than the summer or fall of 2002. Actual release could have been later, of course. But the PT originally had a red mode button, and the serial number being as low as it is, would indicate it probably was produced sometime before late 2003. See this post (http://forums.segwaychat.com/showpost.php?p=10828&postcount=1) for a correlation between serial numbers and production dates.
I realize there might not be a wonderful correlation between the PT's "age" and the datecodes, as the vendor (Delphi) who supplies the CU boards may have built up a considerable stock at the beginning instead of building each board "just in time".
But again, in my case, I am more interested in the age of the individual components than the "age" of the finished products.
If you need a fixed date for vehicle (or device) registration, then this method is not suitable. But since there are so few PTs, I would think an inquiry to Segway, Inc for any given serial number, would produce the desired result, provided the PT's serial number is registered to yourself.
Or perhaps this kind of information (born-on date) can be obtained through the dealer channel. Of course, none of the early PTs went through dealers, so the "early" early-adopters, or those who now own PTs once owed by them probably have to deal with HQ directly to obtain accurate information.
