Wow! I took Seg to Amherst, MA today and segged all over answering questions and talking with lots of people.
I was surprised that I was a bit nervous as I have been segging around my house for 2 weeks. Still, I did fine and will take her out again tomorrow. The sidewalks are full of frost heaves and pot holes so I had to concentrate. I found that when there was even a slight incline I was a bit unsettled--figuratively, not literally....

Linda CONGRATULATIONS!!!! This has been a long time in coming!
Don't worry - I felt REALLY nervous taking my Seg around the neighborhood at first. Now I am comfortable with local. I have taken a couple of longer rides, yesterday being the logest and my heart skipped a beat a couple of times (someone had left sanbags under the freeway underpass. No lighting in there and I ended up riding over them!!!! Momentarily thought I would tip, but I leant into the 'slope' and all was fine.
From what everyone keeps telling me, the more comfortable I get the more I will want to use the red key. Actually, a couple of times yesterday when the bar was leaning in to me I was mildly aggrevated that I hadn't keyed up with red!
Hope your weather holds and you can get lots of outside riding in. It really is a novelty being THIS mobile and totally cool with it too isn't it. Don't you think making the choice to purchase a Segway was one of the best things you have done?? I certainly do.
Also - has it exceeded your expectations? It has mine.
I did have a bit of ankle discomfort from yesterdays ride, but like any new 'exercise' I expect this is normal.
Again - congratulations on letting loose.
Jill
I think this is great, Linda - it's gonna get easier and easier, too. <G>

Sounds like you're doing great Linda! I took my first serious inclines (ramps) yesterday, and was just absolutely amazed at this machine's capabilities. It's gonna be a great spring and summer for all of us. :)

Thanks for all the good wishes.
The first people I met was an older couple . They immediately showed they were hoping I would stop and talk as the husband was most interested in Segway. He saw the potential freedom of it which would allow him to be out and about in the world. So, there I was, 5 minutes into the world with Seg, and people were hungry to share in the novel experience.
A few paces further and a man approached asking if
his son could call me as his son was a journalism student with an assignment!
Being out with Segway was as good as being out with a puppy. Everyone wants to stop and play!
I'm glad John was with me as he answered a lot of people's questions while I showed off!

Hi Linda --
I am sitting here grinning ear to ear at your description of you and your Segway's first sojourn into the outside world! It sounds like you had a great time. One of the bonuses does seem to be getting to know way more of your neighbors than you ever realized existed.

Linda, Great to read about your successful glide.
The glides are getting easier! I didn't wear my knee pads today and stayed away from all the sidewalk/street defects. Going slow when the going gets rough is working well. Continue to have a great weekend!
