Well I just had my first glide in the city with my Segway. We went down to the St. Patrick’s day parade where there were over 100,000 people. I have been practicing for a while and feel very comfortable on the Segway at this point but I was really surprised just how easy it was to slowly navigate through and among 1000s of pedestrians on the sidewalk. The Segway really moves and acts like a person in a way…
I was thinking that people would be more ‘scared’ for lack of a better word of being close to it in a crowd - quite the contrary. Foot traffic kept moving right along like I wasn’t even there…
I am very impressed with the Segway’s performance so far. We rode for about 3 hours and I still had a little less than half of the battery left (although the battery on one Segway went a lot faster than mine). It truly is a great alternative to a car for people who live in the city.
It was great to see people’s reaction as my friend and I glided around. Overall the responses were 99.9% positive from people. We gave about 50 demos and everyone gave the typical huge smile etc... Just wanted to let you all know about my first big public experience…
