Big Thanks to Stan

Just wanted to let everyone know that Stan Dobrowski was gracious enough to let me try out his Segway on Wednesday. It was my first time -- amazing, just as I'd expected. Stan was incredibly nice through and through, from providing directions to training me in its use. I hope when you give demos, you're all as good about it as Stan was!

I certainly identified with your eagerness to give the Segway a try because I felt the exact same way in January when Frank Tropea was kind enough to offer to meet me (and others) for a demo. I just wanted to pass along the kindness Frank expressed. See, it is contagious. <grin>

I gave three more quick on-the-spot demos today as I rode around town. I was cruising at full speed down the middle of a side street near my house and passed three guys standing on the sidewalk. One of them called out, "How does that stop?". I did a super fast stop from full speed in about 5 feet and knocked thier socks off. I talked with them for about 20 minutes and gave two demos.

I am sitting on the front porch typing this and just noticed a SUV going the wrong way on my one-way street while the driver was talking on a cel phone. And people say Segways are dangerous. No, it is just stupid people that are dnagerous - no mater what the mode of transportation.
