I broke the kick stand today. Segway doesn't have any in stock till next week. Has anyone come up with a Rube Goldberg fix yet? I don't think duct tape or glue will fix this one. To get at the kick stand you have remove the wheel and fender and for some reason Segway used torx screws on the fender. (I was told at the factory that all user serviceable parts use hex) Tomorrow when I get a set of torx tips I will try something, if it works I will take a picture.

hey bill-

i have taken the wheel and the kickstand off before, you just need a socket wrench, a torx and an allen wrench, it takes like 5 min max.

how did you break your kick stand?

cheers,

The kickstand seems to be pretty short lived. I try to avoid using it at all to help reduce the chance of breaking it.

I noticed in the pictures from the factory that LLC uses a simple wooden rack to hold up the HT's. It looks like two 2 x 2's spaced about 4-6 inches apart to support the tire, and a block of wood between them that is cut to support the base of the HT. It looks like you just drive it onto the rack and walk away.

I made a suggestion to LLC about the kick stand that they probably want even look at.
The kick stand should be made of a rigid spring with a rubber tip on the end of it (rigid enough to hold up the Segway but weak enough to bend a little if there is weight or pressure put on it.
I will repair mine this way if it ever brakes.

Hey cstull! Please don't post pictures of bunches of Segways. I get extremely jealous. Even if they are not yours. :D:D I only use my kickstand (As taught by Segway employees) when the Segway is under my direct control. Lincoln [8D]
