HEY all, just got my registration finished so I can talk with everyone on this board.

FIRST, i want to thank PT and everyone else for the great detail in showing their new HT's. Furthermore, I'd like to thank PT specifically for the excellent dig. video footage.

Now, I'm so sad I want to cry. I have a life that would be greatly benefited by a Segway, from where I work, to where I live, to the cost of gas in my area....every logical thought screams for a SEGWAY. unfortunately, i just can't afford the price tag :(

BUt, at least I get to see all of yours, which is kewl.

By the way, does anyone know anything about a possible, less costly' Segway model 'P'??? If so, let me know ASAP.

Okay, I'm off, thanks again all.

Peace,

Jared HT

P series is supposedly going to come out later this year.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a markdown on the i series soon (the next few months) either

OKAY, OKAY...now...I need to calm down here...what's the detials on the 'P' series, or can anyone tell me where I can find the detail....

SECOND....does anyone have any strong details on a possible price drop?

Oh, and thanks for the fast reply.

Peace,

Jared HT :)

hi jared,

thanks for kind words.

there aren't many details on the p series, as it doesn't exist yet. it's a little smaller, lighter, slower and has less range than the i series. it's also "said" to be $3,000-ish.

as far as a general price drop, if the technology succeeds, it'll drop within a year. if you look at past prices of new technologies, that's usually when you see a price drop-- 12-18 months after launch if demand is strong. i was saving up for other things, but the ht came along and i went for it. if one is motivated enough $5,000 isn't an impossible goal is one hustle. heck, i'd mow lawns or go without dinners or luxuries if i really wanted something :-] it's about what you're passionate about. i wrote a book to save enough money to buy my now wife an engagement ring!

cheers,
pt

The p series human transporters will be lighter, smaller, and less expensive than either the i or e series. The p series also has less range. Segway LLC has not yet announced availability or price information for the p series, but reasonable expectations have it selling in late summer or fall of this year for around $3,000.

When Segway was introduced in 2001, all three models were listed on the web site. I really wanted the p series Segway, except for its limited range. For the time being, you can only look up the i and e series at Segway's web site. Just wait a little bit longer, and one more model will become accessible to many more people, completing the last piece of the p-i-e!

PT,

I know what you mean. But, I'm newly married, and we're both fresh out of Grad School, so it's going to be a bit harder (why did I go to grad school? If I had gone into the market right after under grad...when the market was better, i'd be in much better shape).

As far as finding a way to afford one...I've come to one conclusion...I need to sell my most prized of all things....my Star Wars Collection. It would more than pay for an I series. Unfortunately, I hate using eBay, so if anyone has other suggestions, I'm open to them.

Peace,

Jared HT

Jared - I'm in the same boat as you with things (sorta)... I'm not working, I love this thing but I don't have the cash for it....

Where do you live, BTW? The least we could try is to get you a demo from someone....

Wow Jared - you and I must be twins and not even know it - we seem to have a HUGE bond between us and I think it's almost scary!

In order to finance my purchase of the Segway, I had to do one thing myself, and came to great realizations that if I really wanted an HT of my own, I MUST sell my Star Wars collection!

So for the past month or so I've been putting it all up in lots on Ebay, and I've made nearly enough to cover the total cost of the HT!

I can't believe you mentioned that - how coincidental!

Let me assure you, Jared, it is WORTH selling off yor collection... My wife and I went to training just this past Monday and once we got onboard the HT, it felt sooooo right. My wife even made the comment that it was worth selling all of my Star Wars stuff for - she wants one too now (though we can't afford that!)!!!

When it came to making that decision to sell all of it, I considered the fact that with collecting, you set your sights on one item, seek it out, buy it, bring it home, look at it for five minutes, put it on a shelf, and then you're on to find something else. Pretty soon it all stacks up and you're knee-deep in a collection with no more space. It's not functional, but it is fun for a while. There's a certain joy in finding something new. I went to Wal-Mart tonight and (as habits go with collecting) I went straight to the toy aisles to see the Star Wars items. There were some new things there, but I knew it was a habit I was glad to give up... and in less that five days (Tuesday next week) my HT is going to arrive. I've busted my rump selling this stuff off and have so very little left now... I don't even really miss it at all - not yet - because I've actually tried the Segway now and I know I did the right thing.

Think it over, Use the Force - It's just stuff, and the Segway is practical and functional. You'll have no doubts once you try it for yourself! I PROMISE!

-Robert O.

My other car is a Segway!

In the picture below are the three models of the Segway HT's. The one on the left is the E-series without the bags attached. The one on the right is the I-series. The E and I have the same specs in terms of speed and range and dimensions, although the E is heavier.

The one in the middle is the P-series. Is has smaller diameter wheels, is lower to the ground, is lighter, narrower, does not go as fast or as far as the E & I series units.

The chart shows the specs for the different models. I suppose that any of these details of the P-series are subject to change.

You're kidding?! P, I, E??? How funny that D.K. would come up with that. Not really unexpected considering that he made the currency in his "country" the value of pie.

Oh well, maybe we can "collect" all three!

Please tell me more about Dean's "country" and his currency. I have not heard about that.

Bud, That would be great ( 2 hour trip for a segway is well worth it, we'll talk when you get back and hammer out the details). email me at jedimasterjared@msn.com

To the rest, well, if you can think of a good qay of unloading about 7K worth of Star Wars collection, without resorting to ebay, let me know. I DON'T WANT TO WAIT FOR A 'P' (I'm a tall guy, i'd look silly on one)..I WANT an 'I'

Bill, pi is derived from a circle or pie.
