Last evening, iNova and I met at a parking lot about two blocks from the original Bob's Big Boy on Riverside Dr. We glided (glid?) over to Bobs going through the drive-in portion (many smiles & approvals), went into (gliding) Starbucks on our HTs (received thumbs-up). Proceded on to "NBC", demo'd to an executive coming out of the building (grins of course). Glided around NBC and "Bob Hope Park" and back through Bobs. MANY demos, much horn honking, shouts of approval and soooo many smiles.
I found that two HTs drew much more than double the attention of one. Demo duty was greatly lightened by having another (Segist?). Fantastic fun when demoing to a couple, each of us attending one person
I felt a little like Henry Ford that night in 1896 when he took his 'Quadracycle' out for a run.
iNova is an excellent (glidist?), we were both on red keys but would have to shut down and restart with the black key for each demo.
I will remember last night for the rest of my life.
Thank you Peter.
BTW I propose using this topic for outstanding memorable glides. I for one would like to read about other Segist's entries.
One way..... SEGWAY ! !

I am the assistant den leader for my son's 5th grade WEBELOS Cub Scout den. We just had our final den meeting and I brought the Segway. You should have seen the eleven faces light up and the boys get in line to be able to ride it.
I gave highly controlled short rides to all eleven boys and they loved it! Some of them were more natural on it than others, but they all did very well. I also gave rides to the scoutmaster, another assistant den leader (female), two high school students that happened by, a father & son who were walking down the hall, and the younger sister of one of the scouts. After the den meeting, they each got another rid before going home.
My son had a ball showing the other boys how he can ride it on his own because he has had quite a bit of practice in the house chasing our dog around.

The G-Master and I (and MrTechno if he's available) are planning a little visit to Navy Pier here in Chicago this Saturday. I think we've finally "turned the corner" with the weather, and it's supposed to be 66F on Saturday. That's gonna feel really good to us here in Chicago--it's been a long cold winter here--and it'll be wonderful Segway weather!
BTW, where is the G-Master? I know he's back from Bedford and his ski trip, and I know he has his HT (talked to him on the phone tonight). We're all awaiting "His Redness" here at SegwayChat!

Hey Brooster.. The last time I was up in Chicago when I visited my sister-in-law they took us down to the Navy Pier. What a cool place to want to glide at. I loved all those luxury, cruise and sailboats and speed boats doing cruise-bys... And the mall reminded me of our own, now closed Union Station Showplace mall here in Indy. I worked there for about the first two years when it was restored and reopened about fifteen years ago. Quite similar in operation and the crowds. And the McDonalds, geez, I had only seen one other bigger and that was a the Woodfield Mall. Thats some big business. Man I wish I could be there to watch you guys come by, but I gotta work. Hey have fun, should be good weather. Well get together next time I'm up there...

See the note on the topic SEGWAYLA NEXT MEETING. An opportunity exists to replicate this glide on this Friday night at Bob's Big Boy where the gathering of cars shows up. Weather permitting.

Tomorrow & Sunday there is training at the Hotel Sofitel by the Beverly Center here. That's 2 miles from my home ie an easy glide. Doorman said it was okay to glide into the lobby. Couple of the trainers saw me and rushed over...they initially thought that someone had gotten into their stash of 10 demos! One of the guys was just about to tackle me but the lady trainer recognized me as I had picked up their Starbucks tab 3 weeks ago at Newport Beach. I was the first person to Seg to a remote training site. Was welcomed to glide down tomorrow without fear of being tackled.
Happy gliding,
Fred
