Is anyone up for a Naples to Seal Beach and back glide this next Saturday, September 1? We would glide around Naples for a while, then glide over to Seal Beach. We would glide around Seal Beach for a while, have lunch in Seal Beach and then glide back to Naples. Let me know.

Sharon,
Do you know the approximate length of the proposed glide? Thanks.

No I do not know the exact mileage. I looked on mapquest. I it is a little over two miles to Seal Beach. But that is if you go up to PCH from 2nd Street and over. We are going to take 2nd St. to Marine and go over from there. It may be a little shorter that way. If you can figure out the exact mileage another way, I would appreciate it. However, our little tour through Naples and Seal Beach needs to be added to the mileage.

I am a tentative "Yes" as long as it is early enough to avoid the heat of the day; it is forcasted to reach 88 on Saturday even at the beach.

To beat the heat, we are going to start the glide at 9:00 a.m. There are a lot of great restaurants in Seal Beach to grab a bite.
Here is a link to the map of the glide. The glide is a little over 8 miles.

Where do you want to meet? Is there a park or anything there at The Toledo and Lido Ln? Just the intersection?

This sounds like such a nice route. I LOVE Naples, and it's a great place to glide. Sadly, I already have plans to be out of town for the holiday weekend...
*sigh*

Yes, John, there is a small park there. That is where we will meet. Sorry you can't make it, Pete. I forgot it is a holiday weekend.

I should be able to get 8 miles so I plan to make it. Is there easy street parking on the island? Thanks.

Yes, there is plenty of parking. You can either park anywhere on Naples Plaza or side streets. You can also park on Appian Way by the Yacht Club.

Did you get your "surprise" yet? We must bring a camera on Saturday.

Looking forward to tomorrow's glide. I am parking on in the large parking lot on Appian Way next to the yacht club parking. There is usually plenty of room there.
Jimmy, sorry you can't make it. Maybe next time.

It was a very odd day...
I woke up at 6:07 am today! That's like, so unusual for me... But then, it's a three day weekend and my programmers took off early yesterday. So I ended up going home early, too. I had already discounted the idea of attending, due to my usual evening schedule. But I was up and alert. Once I printed maps, I headed out with Herbie in the back of the Bug and left for the glide.
Naples is very pretty. The homes go between 3-5 million each. Some of them are breathtakingly beautiful. While there, I shot video of the woman standing up & padding a surfboard with her little dog calmly sitting at the front. Very unique sight. And got footage of the Red Car Museum at Seal Beach, with all our Seg's parked next to an antique Electric Train Engine.
Was a lot of fun, and I'm glad things worked out so that I could join you guys in time. :)

Yesterday was the perfect glide. The weather at the beach was beautiful and the company delightful.
I live in Bixby Knolls, which is five miles from Naples. When I got to Bixby Knolls the thermometer in my car registered 100 degrees. I stepped out and almost passed out from the heat. What a difference five miles and having Signal Hill blocking the breeze makes. I felt like going back and gliding some more.
Thanks to everyone for a great day.
