I have heard that Brad Paisley has a song on the charts now that mentions several of the major players here on the chat...

What's the song, Karl? I just bought his latest album (5th gear) so I've probably got it!

I'm guessing he is referring to the music video "Online", wherein people misrepresent themselves online.

I was thinking that one but didn't get the link. It's actually the song I bought the album for. It's funny with a happy ending. It's a good album. I don't normally "do" country but there's a few good tracks on there with some amazing guitar and fiddle-work on it.

It has gotten some great reviews by buyers on iTunes. Evidently Jason Alexander and William Shatner are comedic characters in the video??? When you say you didn't get the link, do you mean you didn't understand what Karl was trying to say about us?

Yes, John, I didn't understand the link between the song and us on Segway chat. Owning a Segway is not the kind of non-geeky thing geeks would pretend to own to make them sound less geeky - does that make sense? And I don't know who Jason Alexander is (of course Google would help me here) but I remember seeing William Shatner in the video. I think he was his father or something - but there's a quip in there about William Shatner not being able to sing. V. funny.

Although I've only seen the 30 second preview on iTunes, I understand Jason (from the Seinfeld TV series) is the 40-year-old geeky guy working at the pizza pit, living with his parents, and pretending online to be something more.

I didn't get it either. Karl's post made it sound like the song contained overt references to people here on the chat, rather than allusions to the kinds of people who belong to online communities.

I just took it to mean he feels "several of the major players here on the chat..." could be the basis for characters in or referenced in the video.

And if I'm not mistaken that's Maureen McCormick (Marcia) of the Brady Bunch playing the girl next door.;)

Thanks Robert, for the link. Can't believe they let you preview the whole thing. You can tell I don't listen to a lot of music.

Yes, thanks for the link. I too do not listen to too much music, and am not up to speed on who recorded what.

I had not seen that video. (I see very few)

I posted a simple comment that was intended to illuminate that many people on line and on this forum as well are not nearly what they appear to be.

I am not only not particular current on music, but this is the only forum that I regularly frequent. I have difficulty finding the time to peruse this one, and cannot imagine the ability to be producive if I attended too many, so I have a tendency to attribute much of what I see here as representative of the rest of the internet. I know it is too small a sample to be accurate, but it is all I have...

Thanks for the laughs. I like country music and Brad Paisley. I sent the link to several people. Very funny stuff. Yes, that is Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!

Karl was trying to be funny.
