Really folks, I had no idea of the power of segway polo! Who would have suspected that it'd bring us closer to world peace?

Um, I'm not exactly certain this is a positive statement they're making about the Segway.
Ok, uh, seriously . . . it's not.
What they're saying is that the Segway is a rich man's toy and that a world class nut job would be willing to do anything to get his hands on one.
Uh . . . yeah . . . not exactly positive.

I don't get that impression. The Segway was lumped in with products including Harleys and JetSkis, which do not necessarily have an elitist "rich person's toy" image.
The impression I got was that out of all those other things, the Segway was the most compelling & desireable...

I just thought it was hilarious. Why do people have to read so much into things?
ps - I was surprised at how well they captured the look of glee as you swing at the ball. The crashing polo players at the end of the clip was a bit overdone!

Ok, perhaps I should have used this phrasing;
"Product of a decadent western society and not financially available to 99% of people living in North Korea."
The author of the piece looked at all of the products on the embargo list (in case you don't know this was based on a real embargo to North Korea) and of all the products, picked the one item most easily mocked. That is kinda how satire works. Just like the "White and Nerdy" video, there is simply no way to say that this video puts Segway into a "good" light.
Read this article (http://www.goodmagazine.com/section/Guide/sanctions_segways) from the authors and you'll see the words, " . . . luxury items specific to his extravagant tastes." and "Manipulating the dictator by his expensive tastes . . . ".

I think it is better to be in a bad light than to be in the dark.

You can still view it directly from the GOOD Magazine web site:

As a player of SegPolo, I welcome criticism and ridicule. I agree with hellphish's comment. Personally I love playing. If people keep talking about it, more Segway owners will know about it and may be willing to try it out. SegPolo as we know it today is 3 years old (as of last Wed.) The coolest thing for me is that a few weeks ago when riding to work someone stopped me and instead of asking how much it cost, asked me, "Hey, do you play polo on that?"

By the way, do we have any korean speakers who can translate? I'm curious what's being said just before you see the segment with Kim on a segway with a polo mallet. Also throughout the refrain something is being repeated in Korean.
I'll be changing my signature soon...maybe this is the munged/fake quote I'm looking for!

Ok, I finally could not take it any longer. Thanks for finding the link so I could watch it. My gosh that was funny. Lighten up folks. I mean, if anything, why not say Kim is about as likely to give up his prospect of nukes, as he would be to pick a Segway over all the other stuff (except he already has all those other things at his Black Sea Resort). How come you missed the fact that he was actually using a ball to play polo, I mean regional standards dictate an animal head or other body part, oh, oh, oh yeah, what about that rainbow? In N. Korea, come on, must be something to do with the Rainbow Coalition, or some Gay Pride movement. Anyone old enough to remember TW3 (That Was The Week That Was). Only reason I watched the news was so I could get the jokes.
