And how pathetic is someone waiting on line at the apple store to get a iPhone on a segway?
Listen to Howard Stern today to find out!

You da geek, Jonathan. Don't ever change. :-)
Stern and his lackeys are bums. I guess it's some dubious honor to have made it to his show. I've watched the show a couple times on E! What a worthless piece of junk. You wonder not only at the depravity of the "personalities" on the show, but at what could possibly be the motivation behind financing or sponsoring such a piece of garbage.
I remember when the FCC used to hold public hearings on whether to grant or renew a show's license. Why isn't someone speaking up against this filth?
So, that and being on a Segway in line must have really topped off the experience for you, eh?
I know what you meant by being with the people in line. I arrived at 5:30 am the day of the opening of our Tampa Apple Store (store #8). I wasn't the first. Three guys from Orlando had driven out after work the day before, got a hotel room, and arrived about an hour before me.
And I stood in line for three hours for my iPhone. Same kind of group dynamic. Nice people. Each had his or her reasons for wanting to be there.
But as much as I've enjoyed these various Apple events over the years, I've honestly really been happy with their products--the iPhone being the latest and greatest. It wasn't the "thrill" of standing in line so much as the real thrill of owning and using the phone.
For me it's not just a new gadget. It has features and functionality I've been wanting and needing for a long time, and they've fortuitously arrived in this new product.
So let them laugh and jeer. They're the fools.

I agree with alot of what Mr. Stern said.
I waited to buy mine, and picked it up a week ago yesterday (monday) Returned it on Friday.
I loved the phone and features, but had no service in half the city of Lowell, including at my home.

I don't let my personal feelings get in the way of understanding when someone is right or wrong. Obviously Stern is a jackass. That doesn't mean he can't tell some truth. The first guy that High-Pitched Mike interviewed sounded just like the mythical Apple Fanboi I talk so much about. I thought Jonathan did well on the show, at least the best he could when dealing with those jackals. I loved when they tried to frame you as an uberdork with a joke about the Lord of the Rings and you came back with a Starwars reference. I'm right there with you, there's only one "Return" and its of the JEDI, not the King!! Stern doesn't understand the joy of being around other people who are also waiting for the keys to happiness. I'm sure you know all about that, eh dan?

Well, for my two scents...
I used to like Howard Stern 20+ years ago. Of 10 shows, 1 or 2 were so discusting that I turned him off. 6 or 8 were okay, but nothing special. 1 or 2 were so funny that I was afraid that I would laugh so hard, I might have an accident. Unfortunately, he is still doing the exact same show, 25 years later. I have moved on.
That said, he is not a dumb man, and tho crass, he calls them as he sees them, and he is a bit cynical.
THe bit that Jon linked to was the first time I have heard him in about 5 years, and nothing has changed.
If Jon is happy with the exposure, and I am sure he is, which is why he posted it, good for him. I don't begrudge anyone their moments in the sun, if the venue is to my taste or not.
Good for you, Jon. You handled yourself well, in a no win situation, you did not loose.
As far as taking shots at individuals on this board, I have heard enough. I will and do step up against or for actions or suggestions that I like or dislike, and think that a spirited debate is fun. That is not the same as ad hominum attacks. I don't know but a handful of the people on this forum, other than what they write here, and choose not to predict if they have friends or not, or if they like the company of others or not, or much of anything else that occurs off this board.
By the way, I don't happen to own any apple products, and do not consider my life lacking because of it. If someone else's life is enhanced by these products, or by the act of buying these products, I again say, "good for them".
I also value my time higher than to wait in line for something like that which can be purchased in moments now. Of course I say that, and mean it, but had to take a great deal of effort to buy my first segway, and have often said that it was the most difficult purchase I have ever made. (I went to two or three places, looked up stuff on the internet, and eventually drove the 40+ miles to the factory). All this was long before any dealers were in the picture.
So, for all those who are happy to wait in line, be happy. For those who are not happy to wait in line, don't. Be happy that you are not in line.

I agree with alot of what Mr. Stern said.
I am privileged and honored to be torn a new a-hole by Stern, And that (BTW when I was interviewed I did not KNOW it was for Stern) I am a geek, and proud of it, I am a segway owner and Proud of it, I am a Democrat and proud of it, I am a Jew and proud of it.
Howard says alot to be differant, He knows very well what a segway was,
He I am sure has ridden them, but its his job to be the 'contrary sparrow'
Robyn is the 'intellectual' of the show, she knows the rhymes and reasons.
Thats why the show works so well.
As far as standing on line and 'waisting life' whatever gives you pleasure.
Jumping out of a plane seems to be a very BIG waste of life (and limb)
But if it thrills you, then it's worth it.
Live and let live
My feeling about Stern, and Life...
As long as its honest, as I was, and as he was. Its all good

Jon, thanks for posting this. I don't think it was all bad. You're a geek and proud of it. Good for you, man.
You know, I've seen your face a few times on pictures and what not, and we've chatted briefly on Skype, but I don't recall ever hearing your voice. It's great to get the full picture.
It's making me wonder what everyone else on here sounds like. I guess that's why fests are so much fun!

I had a feeling that was you when i heard it. My son listens to howard daily and even though he said some dumb things on the segway i though it was nice to hear the segway mentioned. Jonathan as long as your happy that is all that matters
I have moved this thread to OFF TOPIC as it is more about H Stern, and only ancillarily related to the Segway. Furthermore, let us keep on topic and not be inciteful regarding the upcoming SEGAmerica elections.
Thank you for maintaining civility.
