Our team has a "crash cart" in case all hell breaks loose with our robot. (Sort of like NASCAR) Anyway, we wanted to have a way of communicating with the guys in our pit station to tell them to bring the "crash cart" out next to the arena entrance so we can work on the robot on the way back to the pit station if necessary. The problem is, we cant use walkie-talkies because FIRST doesnt allow them at the competitions. We need some way of signaling the "crash team" in the event of a problem so that we dont have to move the "crash cart" up to the arena at every match. Any suggestions for cueing our "crash team" would be greatly appreciated

I would use a couple of runners. Old-fashioned, but effective.

Do they say walkie-talkies...or radio?
If it's the former, then there are all numbers of things...Wi-Fi among them that would be a clever idea. Hey wait, you're the FIRST guy! Aren't you supposed to be able to jury rig better than a sysadmin?
Maybe an air horn, but that could get mildly aggravating, or a HID light in the same thread. Everything else relies on wireless by RF though, so if it's a radio ban, I think you're SOL.

Let's just take the safety labels off of everything and let America's problem sort itself out.
