I simply believe that there are only two camps. Those who are with the problems, and those who are with the solutions...

The reporter did not get everything absolutely correct, but she got enough... We shall see how this works out...

Congrats to Karl for some local news...makes so much sense to be "thinking global and gliding local", as others have said.

I'll tip my hat to Kark also for his allowing me a demo ride back in '05 when I was deciding to get a Segway...and for other helpful assists since then.

In my town (one town over from Karl) I often park my car and run local errands on my Segway. The other day a new store owner insisted that I come back for a free cup of coffee on my Seg when his store had its upcoming opening.

In my case, segging extends and saves my mobility and balance...I even was able to shovel snow, just clearing the light stuff.

Now if I can find some cost effective way to haul my Segway with my real scooter, a Vespa....that would be great!

Karl, I think you're being very clever in this--not in a devious way, but in a proactive way. It's seems like sort of a feint in a way as, on the surface, you're proposing REGULATIONS!!! (Eeek!) But most likely your main purpose is to better legitimatize the Segway while at least tacitly encouraging their adoption from a common sense/environmental/community advocacy angle.

BINGO! Give that man a prize...

Laws regulate things. They do not endorse things. So... To take something from limbo to reality, you give it guidelines. It helps to give it guidlines that are reasonable, and by doing so, it becomes part of the culture, not the exception. The advantage is that by codifiing it, people who have no idea, get an idea of the limitations, and therefore the lack of danger. How many times have we heard of city councils say that they are dangerous and then be in the position to prove otherwize... Here I am showing studies that prove them safe, and the opposition will be in a position to have to prove them dangerous.

Thank you Mr. Lorenzano for speaking so clearly and positively. I know that others have commented on your prose, but I am missing the gene that allows me to understand. I really appreciate your speaking up in support.

I, too, think it's a great article. Common sense all around.
