 Any suggestions on a hauler to carry 2 Segs?
I've been looking at buying a wheelchair powered lifter that has a 30 X 50" aluminum platform. And I'd like to cover the two units with something other than a plastic wrap; something that may keep dust and dirt off the units. I plan to carry them on the rear of my motor home and it get pretty grungy back their - dirt and diesel res.
I've looked (on the web) at the Segway carrier and it looks just OK. I'm not too fond of lifting 2 Seg up about 18" each time I want to load and unload which could be twice a day. I understand that someone has a carrier that is encased in a plastic shell like a Thule carrier. That would be great.
If you have an idea let me know ASAP. I'd like to head off for AZ and West for a couple of months and I need to solve this problem first.

If you end up going the wheelchair platform route, you might look around for a model with attached ramps. Of the few I've seen mounted to vehicles, some of them have ramps that hinge on one side and fold "up" in use, or all the way back to the platform when the platform is empty and folded up.
As for an enclosure, this post (http://forums.segwaychat.com/showthread.php?t=9624) describes a rooftop luggage rack that was modified to enclose a "hitch hauler" (Segway, Inc.'s official single PT hauler). I'm not sure if it completely weatherproofs (as there is an opening where the hitch hauler connects through the luggage rack) the contents, and of course it only holds one PT. But it would seem to be much more effective at weatherproofing than the plain PT cover.
The picture links are broken on that post because the filename extensions are the wrong case. Here are the pictures that are supposed to appear in that post:

one of our customers had the same concern abot the diesel "gunk" on their segs. He went to a shop that does car covers, and had a couple of heavy duty covers made up that wrap around the machine and the hitch hauler (he uses 2 of them) and zip up across the bottom.
I haven't got any photos but I'll see if he can send me some to post. My understanding is that the solution was relatively inexpensive and works well, keeping exhaust and water of the Segways
